1 Grapevine Pastor's Desk Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Christ the Lord is risen, indeed! It does not seem possible that May is already upon us, but the Daffodils have bloomed and the Dogwood flowers are the biggest ones I have ever seen! We are in the Easter Season in the church, when we continue to celebrate the risen Lord. In this time, I urge you to reflect upon the amazing gift of Jesus Christ and His continued walk with us down whatever paths we encounter. I have been watching the changes in our creation, and have been seeing great things happening in our congregation. Great things happen in our midst when the Lord speaks and we listen. God is speaking and you are hearing. Please mark your calendars and join us in prayer and song on May 4 th at 4PM at the gazebo for an hour. National Day of Prayer is celebrated each year in small towns, big cities, and little brush arbors in rural settings. It is a time to pray for our nation, our leaders, our workers, and one another with a great corporate prayer rising to God. Set aside the extra hour and let our community see that the Lord is paramount in our lives. If you cannot join us, take that hour and pray from wherever else you must be, aloud or silently, for all prayers are heard. Watch your bulletins and newsletters for other times when we can join together as Christians, outside of Sunday worship. If you are on Facebook, we do have a page. If you love Facebook and are interested in being in charge of posting things and keeping us up to date, I am looking for a volunteer! A vibrant church does things outside of Sunday morning and I encourage you to join us for these events. And bring your families, your friends, and even strangers along. Remember that a stranger is just someone whom you have not met. Relay for Life is coming soon! Sign up to participate, get pledges, encourage others to join us, and look for others way we might fight this disease that has touched each of us in some way. There will be luminaries available for a donation at the May 7 th luncheon after church. Light a light for a survivor, or a fighter who lost the battle, to show that you will not forget their valiant battle. Let s exceed our goal abundantly! And always invite someone to come to church with you on Sunday morning. It is not a matter of surviving as a building or even a group. It is our responsibility to be the disciples and servants of the Creator who has so greatly blessed us, inviting all into the fold, and promised us an undying and divine love.
