UNITED CAMPUS MINISTRY DINNER Sunday, January :30 PM First Presbyterian Church Family Life Center The United Campus Ministry at UNK will be providing dinner for participating students and friends of the UCM tonight. This is the first in a series of meals to enjoy fellowship and build relationships between UNK students and supporting congregations in Kearney. For a good meal, good fellowship and good news, come to the Family Life Center at 5:30 pm. The event will be over in time for the Taize service. SCOTTISH HERITAGE SUNDAY SUNDAY, JANUARY 29TH A wee bit o Scotland will be returning to First Presbyterian Church in Kearney on January 29 in the form of a Kirkin of the Tartans worship service. We will celebrate our Scottish heritage as Presbyterians with Scottish music, a bagpiper, a beadle, Scottish attire, and following the service, a Ceilidh (a Scottish happening) with shortbread in the Family Life Center. Scots are asked to bring a piece of their clan tartan to be blessed. Those who are not Scots, please bring a swatch or token that represents your family to participate in the blessing. Whatever your heritage, however, all people are encouraged to come and celebrate our roots as a Presbyterian family of faith. Wear something plaid, if you are able. Bring your friends that are Scottish or Scots by contagion. This year our church will acknowledge those with whom our congregation has a partnership in community service. Invite your friends to join us in worship!

5 SOUPER BOWL COMPETITION January 29 and February 4 We would like to notify people about the Souper Bowl for Mission competition that will start January 29th and finish February 4th. Fans will be able to donate food (and money, if the Session okays it) for the team that they want to or think will win the Super Bowl. Donations may be brought on each of the two Sundays. JANUARY MINISTRY OF COMPASSION The January Ministry of Compassion will be sponsored by the Presbyterian Women of the Martha Circle. The highlighted organization is the Crossroads Center Rescue Mission. The Mission s critical needs are: 13-gallon trash bags, deodorant, coffee, food serving gloves and rubber cleaning gloves. Also needed: cleaning supplies, paper goods, diapers, laundry soap, personal/feminine hygiene items and non-perishable food items. Please bring these items to the church and deposit them in the bin in the Narthex. As the bin fills, the products will be delivered to Crossroads. Thank you for serving God, your church and the clients at the Crossroads Center Rescue Mission.
