This has helped so much. to all those who came out to help paint, cut, fold and put together sets and decorations for VBS. It takes a lot of people pitching in to help do all the big and little things necessary for VBS to take place. to the Flower Angels, Marcia Williams, Betsy Collins, Mary Louise Stone, Sherry Campbell, Libby Cheek, Joe Gamble and Bonnie Wallace, for providing a reminder of the beauty of God s nature for our Chapel and Sanctuary. Charge Conference Planned There will be a called meeting of the Charge Conference on Monday, July 27, 2015, at 5:30 pm, in the Circle View Room. The purpose of this meeting shall be to make an adjustment in the compensation of the Reverend Erin Beall. This breathtakingly spiritual, heartbreaking, and inspiring novel centers around the main character John Ames, a retired and ailing preacher, and tells the story his waning and waxing spirituality, his family and friends, and the trouble of rural life in the small town of Gilead, Iowa. Books are available for $10 at the front desk. Rev. Erin Beall will be at DeBeen every Thursday this summer during the lunch hour for book discussion, and in late August Wesley Memorial will host a dinner and panel discussion of the book with Revs. Al Ward, Jared Stine, and Erin Beall. Let s read, grow, and be inspired together.
8 Ways to SERVE Vacation Bible School Set Up & Prayer Volunteers are needed to help set up and decorate for VBS TODAY at 2 pm. Also, please keep VBS in your prayers this week: the children that will be attending as well as the youth and adults that are volunteering. want to help build a habitat house? Wesley Memorial will participate in a Habitat Build on Saturday, August 8. If you would be interested in knowing more and/or participating in this project, please contact Jim Holcomb at jhol20@aol.com. Martha & Stephen Guild volunteers needed Looking for a volunteer commitment that is flexible? Duties Available: Calling, Setting Tables, Serving (serving drinks, wiping trays, cleaning up at end of meal), or Host or Hostess (opportunity to choose one of the options or a combination up to all of the options). VBS at ward street umc Once again we are going to be able to share the Mt Everest VBS experience with children at Ward St UMC, on August 3-6 from 9:00-12:30. We need Volunteers for many different jobs. Whether you can help one day or all four we have the perfect place for YOU! No experience or advance planning is necessary. Just be ready to have fun. Please help us provide school supplies and Back Pack items for Fairview Elementary School. Specific needs include: Pencils (regular and fat size) 2-pocket folders Colored Pencils Boxes of tissues Spiral notebooks Items needed for Back Packs are snack items such as: Fruit Cups, Fruit Roll Ups, Fruit Snacks Individual packaged Pudding Cups, Raisin Boxes, Cookies, Snack Cakes or Goldfish Crackers Please place in VBS School Supplies bins located at the entrances of the Elementary & Preschool areas. Summer backpack program update We are packing food for 50 children each week through August 10 for the Fairview Backpack program. Items of great need: Individual Pop-top Spaghettio s, Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs, Ramon Noodles, Kraft Mac and Cheese easy cups. We can no longer accept peanut butter items due to allergies and thanks to your donations we have plenty of raisins! Collection bins are in the Narthex, Fellowship Hall Lobby and Administrative Building Lobby. Wonder-filled weekday learning experiences await young children this fall at Wesley Memorial School but our classes are almost full! Families are encouraged to call ASAP to inquire about NURSERY classes for Infants, Toddlers, & Twos; PRESCHOOL classes for Threes & Pre-K Fours; KINDERGARTEN classes for Fives. Schedule is 9-12:00, and 9-1:00 for K-Fives. Optional hour of Before or After school care available to extend the day and support parent needs. Families are invited to take a peek into the exciting hands-on learning of each age-level by visiting The community is raving about our school website!
