The Wesley Memorial Cultural Awareness Team and the Interfaith Service Club will be co-hosting this special event for the second year. Thanks to Cindy Dominick for her role as hostess, and to the entire church staff for greeting and helping attendees navigate our building. Applause to the 52 church members who provided much needed support to Wesley Memorial School teachers by greeting, monitoring parking lots, serving meals or facilitating workshop presenters. Our church received rave reviews for an outstanding coordinated effort in serving as host-site for this 2012 professional development event! to everyone who purchased Cookie Dough in our fall fundraiser for Wesley Memorial School! Beginning November 25, our Advent study, A Different Kind of Christmas, will be offered three separate times during the week: Sunday, 9:45 am in Conf. Room #3; Sunday, 6:30 pm in Conf. Room #3; Wednesday, 6:45 pm in the Media Center. What better way to prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ than to gather with other followers and explore the ways we can focus our whole lives on the real reason for the season Jesus. Cornerstone Kids - A Different Kind of Christmas Advent study for children 4 years 5th grade will Begin November28-December 19th at 6:45 pm Room A 219 on the Elementary Hall. This is a fun and inspiring study for children during Advent. Children will discover the broader meaning of Jesus birth and experience a Christmas season with more peace and joy than any toy could ever bring. 5 Ways to SERVE Deliver Thanksgiving dinner to families in need! The Fairview Partnership team is once again providing Thanksgiving dinners to Fairview Elementary School families the Sunday before Thanksgiving. If you and/or your family can help deliver these meals directly following the November am worship service, please contact Ivey Orr or Margot Pritchett com or Ways to GIVE Tony Griffey Food Drive Challenge!! We are beginning our fall food drive early this year to participate in the Tony Griffey Challenge. If our church brings in 2500 items for Open Door Ministries food pantry, Tony Griffey will sing two songs at our Sunday worship service for free! So, BRING IN THAT FOOD! Suggested items are: peanut butter and jelly, canned meats (tuna, chicken), canned meals (ravioli or spaghetti), canned vegetables, canned fruits, boxed milk (parmalat), pasta, rice, breakfast cereal, dried beans, juice boxes, and canned soups. The Christmas Bazaar is Coming!!!!!! The UMW would like to have your contributions for the Silent Auction and General Store portions of the Bazaar. Clean out your closet, attic and garage. Art, lamps, dishes, housewares, toys, books, collectibles, sports tickets, and small appliances are welcomed. NO CLOTHING. Gift cards for area businesses, restaurants and services are also great. Bring your items to the Dining Hall between 9 am and 4 pm on Thursday and Friday, November 15 and 16. Money raised from the Bazaar goes to support projects of the United Methodist Women. Thank you!! In just a few short weeks we will be celebrating Advent and a short time after that will be Christmas Day. As in years past, the GTTOW Market will be offering alternative gifts for you to give to your loved ones. This year we are excited to offer seven new items on the list. The GTTOW team will start selling these gifts on Sunday, December 2nd. Watch for more information in your upcoming church communications. Help Needed with Backpack Project! Wesley Memorial Missions is putting together a plan to pursue the Backpack Project where students at Fairview would be provided with food over long weekends, holiday breaks, and other days they are not in school to receive meals. If you, your family, or your group would be interested in participating in this project by bringing in items, making a financial donation, or volunteering to pack bags, please contact Margot Pritchett at margotpritchett@yahoo.com or In order for this project to be a success it needs to be a church wide initiative. Thank you in advance for your help! Meredith Martin Love Offering As is our tradition, we will be receiving a love offering for Meredith Martin as she leaves Wesley Memorial. She has asked that all gifts be used as seed money for the new mission initiatives being considered by the Mission Teams and Church Council.
