2 The Worship of God Chapel February 25, :30 am Opening Voluntary Choral... Louis Vierne Welcome and Announcements Call to Worship Welcome this day to the second step on our Lenten Journey. We come with great hope and expectation as we walk the way of Christ. Today s journey will demand much of us. Lord, make us ready to offer ourselves to you. Come, let us begin again the wondrous excursion. Let us place our lives in God s abiding love. Welcome! Thank you for worshiping with us this morning! Please take a moment to sign the attendance notebooks during the announcements. If you are a guest, please leave your contact information and a pastor will contact you this week with more information about our church. Opening Prayer The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. God, you have given us everything. What can we give in return for our lives? Be our guide on our Lenten journey. Help us to deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Jesus. We welcome the chastening direction in our lives as we worship you today. AMEN. Hymn No. 577 God of Grace and God of Glory...cwm rhondda Prayer of Confession Most holy and merciful God, you ask, Who do you say that I am? We confess that we have failed to answer with the truth. Too often we have said you are merely A comfort, to ease our pain; A help, to solve our problems; A safety net, to save our souls. But with the disciples we speak the truth now: You are the Messiah. Forgive us for the ways we have ignored your holy callings: Not merely to be comforted, but to comfort others. Not to have an easy life, but to seek you in all things. Not to wait for Heaven, but to build your Kingdom here and now. Free us from our false confessions, that we might joyfully proclaim with Peter: You are the Messiah. Amen. Salisbury Kyrie...Mark Patterson (The Wesley Singer will sing first and the congregation will join in) Ky - ri - e e - lei - son, Chri - ste e - lei - son, Ky - ri - e e - lei - son; Lord, have Mer - cy up - on us.
