Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick Please call the parish office as soon as possible to arrange for the celebration of this sacrament for those seriously ill or in danger of death. Funeral/Christian Burial Arrangements with Parish Office must be completed before setting a date and time for the service. Communion Calls Please call the parish office if a Eucharistic Minister is needed to bring Holy Communion to a homebound or confined parishioner. Annulments Tribunal-Advocates are available to help you find healing from the pain of divorce and convalidation of a new marriage in the church. For more information, please call the Parish Office. All ministries are in need of volunteers to help us continue working to build up the Body of Christ. In order to accomplish so great a mission, we ask that each of our parishioners, choose to become involved. We ask you to consider service as a Liturgical Minister Greeter, Usher, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Altar Server, Choir Member or Musician, or Minister of Church Environment; a Faith Formation teacher or aid; provide salads and/or cookies for our funerals; or an aid in the library. You will be blessed and your relationship with the Lord and brothers & sisters in Faith will be deepened. Can we count on you in one of these or many other possible ministries? We ask that each adult member complete a separate form. Please return your completed form to the Parish office. If you are currently volunteering in a ministry and wish to continue, please indicate that desire on the form. Thank you!

3 Holy Trinity Parish Social Justice Commission What Do We Do? The Social Justice Commission (SJC) meets once a month to discuss ways to incorporate the 7 Tenets of Catholic Social Teaching into our parish. These tenants guide our acti ities and keep us focused on doing God s ork. We have 3 annual drives to serve the poor and vulnerable in our community, but we are always looking for new opportunities to help those in need. School Supply Collection: In early August Baby Bottle Collection: Once a year we participate in the baby bottle fundraiser for Pregnancy Resource Center. Cold Weather Collection: In the fall or winter, a collection of items needed for our homeless brothers and sisters. Our Commission also maintains a bulletin board in the Education Wing, across from the restrooms, with multitudes of resources. These notices list resources for food, healthcare, clothing, transportation, etc. The parish supports one seminarian or novitiate at a time through UNBOUND. The SJC members write monthly and receive letters in return. We oversee KIVA, an internet based international micro-lending organization that was created to provide small loans for underprivileged people. 4 MARCH 4, 2018 From today s gospel reading: Jesus found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep and doves, as well as money changers seated there. He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area... To those who sold doves he said, "Take those out of here and stop making my Father s house a marketplace." Reflection: Jesus reveals the righteous anger God feels when what is good and intended to help people gets infiltrated by human greed. While mercy is always available to those who seek it, still we cannot forget Jesus indignation when he meets injustice and any restrictions on those seeking God. So we ask ourselves: - Is there a welcome atmosphere at my parish church as people enter the building? - Do I go out of my way to introduce myself to people at church and welcome them if they are visitors? HOLY TRINITY SENIORS Don't miss our next potluck luncheon, set for noon on Thursday, March 8 in the social hall. Bring a friend, bring a dish to share & expect a fun time! GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP Grieving the loss of someone you love is never easy, but it can help to know you are not alone. Consider joining our Grief Support Group on Saturday, March 17, from 10:00 to 11:30am in the JP2 Youth Center, at Our Lady Star of the Sea parish. It s an opportunity to find healing in the light of your Catholic faith. This group is for parishioners of both Holy Trinity and Star of the Sea parishes. Call Kathy at the Parish Office, (360) , ext. 229 for more info and to learn if the group is right for you. GOT CANDY FOR OUR EASTER EGG HUNT? We are requesting donations of plastic eggs and small wrapped candies that will fit inside the plastic eggs for our Easter Egg Hunt. This fun event for our kids is scheduled for Saturday, March 31. We need the donations dropped by the Faith Formation office by Palm Sunday, March 25. Thank you in advance! Don t forget to pick up your Family Rice Bowls. During Lent, Catholics in the United States have two opportunities to support the Church s global mission to assist the poor. Thank you for your generosity to all in need! REFLECTIONS WITH DEACON JOHN Tuesday, March 6, 7:00pm, Chapel The Gifts of the Holy Spirit The greatest gift of the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit. The living God gives the gift of himself to those who are baptized. From the Spirit flows other gifts, some of which are for our personal sanctification while others are for the building up and support of the body of Christ. Many of the gifts are very familiar to us (wisdom, counsel, love) while others are somewhat foreign (healing, prophecy, tongues). Whatever our experience, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for all Christians and no one should think that the gifts are not for them. Would you like to help make decisions about upcoming Faith Formation events and schedules? Then, we encourage you to join the Faith Formation Commission. Join and let your voice be heard! Meetings are just once per month usually on the second Tuesday. Contact the Faith Formation office for more information. The Faith Formation Commission s Annual Scholarship Waffle Breakfast is this Sunday after all the morning Masses! Take a break from washing dishes and join us for this fun occasion! All 2nd-8th Grade First Reconciliation / First Communion students and their parents are expected to attend the First Reconciliation Retreat this coming Saturday, March 10 at 10am. Families should have received notice of this event. If your student is planning to receive the sacrament of reconciliation and has not received notice of this mandatory retreat, please contact the Faith Formation office immediately.
