2 October 18, 2015 Family Catechism Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Fill us with your love, O Lord, and we will sing for joy! Psalm 90:14 The National Association for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd has 32 Characteristics for CGS. I will share them with you once a week for your benefit and understanding of this catechesis in our Parish. # 2.The catechist embraces Maria Montessori s vision of the human being and thus the attitude of the adult regarding the child; and prepares an environment called the atrium, which aids the development of the religious life. Remember that we have Catechesis for the adults at the same time. Please come and join us for the reflection for Sunday s Gospel and be prepared for Mass. Pick up is at the offices. Children will not be released until a parent is there. Looking forward to another amazing year of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd where children come to a special room called the Atrium which was created by the Catechists so they can listen and talk to God and fall in love with the Good Shepherd! 3 Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 Parish Mission Statement Guided by the Holy Spirit and following the teaching of the Holy Catholic Church, the Mission of St. Joseph is to be the best administered and most caring parish in Sacramento Diocese, through our liturgies, faith formation and social services for the benefit of the community of Auburn and vicinity. A Message from Deacon Mike Young PAINS-TAKING PRAYER? The Lord commands us to "confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and favor and to find help in time of need. When we do this, however, we should try to understand the implications of what we are asking. If we ask for many to be justified and saved, we are also asking that we share in Christ's redemptive sufferings. If we pray for the will of the Lord to be accomplished through us, we are also asking for the grace to give our lives as offerings for sin. If we ask to be great and do great things for God's kingdom, we are also praying to be the servants, even the slaves of all. (See Mark 10: 35-45). When we pray the "Our Father," the general intercessions at Mass, and other prayers, the Lord will question us before answering our prayers. He asks, "Can you drink the cup I shall drink or be baptized in the same bath of pain as I?" How will we answer? Prayer and pain often go together. Look at Jesus, the crucified Intercessor. Considering the fact that prayer is often done in the shadow of the cross, it's no wonder that so few pray seriously and powerfully. Do we love others so much that we will not only pray for them but also suffer with Jesus for them? Will we drink the cup? Jesus, may we spend time in daily prayer even if we have to pray as You did in the Garden of Gethsemani. "The Son of Man has not come to be served but to serve...to give His life in ransom for many." Let us pray to have the courage and strength to be like our brother, Jesus. Praise Jesus, Who became the Suffering Servant of all! Alleluia! Glory to our victorious Lord! God bless you all. We are looking for a fake 6 ft. tree in good shape or new to use for the Giving Tree and in Father s house for his Christmas Tree when we are finished.
