2 Page 2 PASTOR PAUL S PARAGRAPHS Dear Members and Friends of Sweetwater Baptist Church: Blessings!! The theme of February is LOVE. Valentine s Day is on a Sunday, February 14 th. We are proclaiming this day at Sweetwater I Love My Church Day! We want to demonstrate our love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Sweetwater Baptist Church in our attendance in church and through our financial giving. Let me encourage you to be present in Sunday School and worship and to bring an extra offering as you reveal your love for Christ s Church. The Reveal God s Plan emphasis is going exceptionally well. I am grateful for Mrs. Shannon Bohanan, Emphasis Director, and our Directions Team for all of their leadership and participation in the program. A vital aspect to Reveal God s Plan is prayer. Prayer is going to be the main focus at Sweetwater during the month of February. We will be having Reveal God s Plan cottage prayer meetings during the weeks of February 7 th and February 14 th. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Alice Edwards for being the Prayer Emphasis Director and Lynn Berry, with the assistance of Cindy O Driscoll, for coordinating the prayer cottages. I am praying that these prayer cottages will be the catalyst for a great revival at Sweetwater (2 Chronicles 7:14). In conjunction with the Cottage Prayer Meetings, we will be showing the motion picture War Room on Sunday evening, February 14 th. This movie deals with the power and authority of prayer. This film is awesome!! We will meet at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Please, bring someone with you to this special event. It is going to be great!! Prayer is one of the great privileges of the Christian life. As we continue to pray about Commitment Sunday on March 13 th and for the ministries of our church let me encourage you to pray in the following manner. 1. Pray Personally Jeremiah 29:12 2. Pray Continually 1 Thessalonians 5:17 3. Pray Passionately Psalm 61:1 4. Pray Specifically Matthew 7:7, 8 5. Pray Expectantly Matthew 21:22 As you pray, claim Jeremiah 33:3 which declares, and show you great and mighty things, which you do It is a Joy and a Privilege to Serve You!! With a Pastor s Love, Call to me, and I will answer you, not know. (NKJV) Brother Paul Philippians 1:3

7 Dear Church Family, It is Tuesday morning as I type this article. It has been a long weekend with a sick little boy. The cold and cough that has been visiting so many of our church members has visited the Abbott home as well. Alyson missed being here on Sunday because she was keeping Noah home due to a fever he had since Friday. The doctor said that it was something viral and that it would just have to run its course. Needless to say, it did and the fever finally broke early Sunday evening. Thank you for your prayers and concern for us over the past few days. We appreciate it greatly! As we look toward the month of February, I am excited to see what God has in store for us here at Sweetwater. February is normally known as the love month. John was known as the Beloved disciple. In John 17 we find the High Priestly Prayer of Jesus recorded. In this prayer he prays for his disciples and for us. Jesus prays, I do not ask for these only (the disciples), but also for those who will believe in me through their word (us), that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that the world may believe that you have sent me. Later in the same chapter Jesus closes the prayer, I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them. Such beautiful words from our Savior. Think about this one of the last thing that Jesus prayed for in the Garden before he was to go to the cross was for unity among the believers. I will close this article with a song that came out in 1966 by Peter Scholtes entitled, They ll Know We Are Christians. May our community continue to know that we are Christians because of the love that we have for each other and for the Lord! We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord. We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord. And we pray that all unity will one day be restored. And they ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes, they ll know we are Christians by our love. We will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand. We will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand. And together we ll spread the news that God is in our land. And they ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes, they ll know we are Christians by our love. We will work with each other; we will work side by side. We will work with each other; we will work side by side. And we ll guard each one s dignity and save each one s pride. And they ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes, they ll know we are Christians by our love. All praise to the Father, from whom all things come. And all praise to Christ Jesus, His only Son. And all praise to the Spirit, who makes us one. And they ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. Yes, they ll know we are Christians by our love. Love you Sweetwater! Bro. Mark P.S. Anyone interested in playing in the Handbell Choir here at Sweetwater needs to contact me as soon as possible. Thanks!
