1 July 22, 2012 SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME HUNGRY?... FOR GOD? When we ask the Lord for something he gives us more than we need with surplus! When the Lord heard Moses prayer for food He rained down bread from heaven for forty years! At the wedding feast of Cana, Jesus Mother asked for a little wine to save the wedded couple from embarrassment and what was Jesus response, - to miraculously turn six stone jars filled with 150 gallons of water into premium wine! That s the equivalent of 700 bottles of wine! The wedding party could drink to their hearts content. With five loaves and two fish, Jesus feeds 5000 men not counting women and children and gathers left-over!! How generous, how magnanimous, how great is our God in His love for us, in His care for us. When the Lord looks on us, He sees all of our needs, our hopes, our desires and He provides for those who put their faith and trust in Him. But so many a time the Lord finds that the human soul has no desire for God s greater gifts and blessings. That is why opportunities for retreats, for bible studies, for Eucharistic adoration, for reconciliation and for faith formation are so difficult to fill up. Let us pray for a hunger for spiritual things, most of all for a real hunger for God, for prayer, for heaven. O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! For to those who fear Him there is no want. But they who seek the LORD - shall not be in want of any good thing. Psalm 34:8-10
2 July 29, th Sunday of Ordinary Time There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many? JOHN 6:9 Give thanks with your Sunday-Giving Sacrificial Gift; Give Praise with your Gift of Ministry as an EMHC, Musician, Lector, Usher, Server,... Walk in Faith,... Spend Time in Daily Prayer,... Be Faithful to Weekend Mass,... See God at Work,... Multiplying What We Offer to Protect, Provide, to Feed So Many!! Many times what we have to offer, - our time, money, energy or talents, seems so inadequate to what we need to renew our lives, our church, our homes or our businesses. In other words we are often confronted with the same challenge that the Apostles and Jesus faced, with a mere five loaves and two fish to feed a multitude of five thousand men not counting women and children! In our local Church for over 130 years through fire, depression, wars and seemingly insurmountable odds, the Lord has always blessed and multiplied whatever is offered in faith and trust in Him to meet the needs of the many and the many needs that we had. He will supply what is lacking. As Christians we are called to live in total surrender to the Lord, putting Him FIRST, surrendering joyfully what we can offer and do at his service and the service of the Church, even if we think it does not amount to much. The Lord will take our meager and inadequate offerings and use them for the greatest amount of good. This rings true of staff employed in Churches and Catholic schools, missionaries and hospitals around the world, who administer to so many with so little and who are compensated not according to the world but with blessings from above, now and beyond. Called to be generous in our offerings and service by the Lord, who blesses us abundantly, we are also reminded to be good stewards, not letting any gift or offering go to waste. Don t feel inadequate,... give thanks,... walk in faith,... spend time in daily prayer,... Be faithful to Weekend mass... see God at work multiplying for us to provide more than we need. Fr. Francis Nigli ++SUNDAY-GIVING AUTO-PAY TRANSITION IN PROGRESS++ You will receive a letter and form in the mail with detailed instructions and return envelopes. We will also have our staff available after designated weekend masses to assist and help anyone through the process and answer their questions. Please help to initiate us into the 21 st century paperless world, that could also give us stability in our budget projection for each month, help to reach all of our registered parishioners and hope to fix the budgetary shortfall and be able to better serve our parish and its budgetary obligations. ++CAMPAIGN PROJECTS UPDATE +FRONT OF GRADE SCHOOL TO COMPLETE AUG 18 +HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS & BOYS LOCKERS TO BE COMPLETED AUG 4 +GRADE SCHOOL ROOF TO BE COMPLETED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE +DEMOLITION & WORK TO BEGIN ON HANDICAP RAMP & GROTTO AUG 5 +HALLWAY CONNECTION BETWEEN GRADE & HIGH SCHOOL START AUG 8 ++FR.
