3 IN REMINISCENCE -.,, Some of these days all skies will be brighter; Some of these days our burdens will be lighter- Some of these days! Some of these days sweetly singing; Some of these days Joy Bells melodiously ringing - Some of these days! COREN HARRIS WILSON, daughter of Mr. Sam and Effie Clemons Harris, Jr., was born on a golden, autumn day, November 6, 1953, in historic Sparta, Georgia in the county of Hancock. As an adolescent, Coren was given the kind of parenting during her childhood, which formatively helped to shape and to mold her into the ambitious, industrious, self-directed, energetic and phenomenal humanitarian she inevitably became. First, and foremost, she was given those virtuous and efficacious principles of Christianity, which remained deeply embedded within her personage for all of her days. Upon her personal acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as her Master and Savior, she was administered baptism by the late Rev. R. E. Edwards at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in her native Sparta, Georgia. COREN, a young lady who immensely enjoyed the art and science of academia, readily grasped the various concepts, theories and skills imparted by the many educators in her presence. It was her unique ability to excel in the classroom that created the avenue upon which she trod with consistence and persistence. Con sequently, she completed her secondary prerequisites with honor and distinction by graduating from Central High School in Upon the completion of this feat, Coren matriculated Paine College, where she chose to concentrate in Science Education and majored in Chemistry. While studying at Paine, she rose to tremen dous levels of scholastic achievement. She was awarded the Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Paine College in 1976.,-,,... $> ' - ' Needless to say, as was the custom in yesteryear, it was during her post-secondary, collegiate pursuit that she met the young man who became "The Apple of Her Eye," and inevitably her Soul-Mate for life, Mr. Boisie Wilson, II. The two Chemistry majors bonded in the classroom. It was on the wintry day of December 22, 1974, that the two predestined lovers were joined in Holy Matrimony in her native Sparta, Georgia. Hun dreds of family members and friends were present for this special union - a wonderful and admirable marriage of the highest caliber. Their beautiful marriage endured for thirty (plus) memorable years of happiness. It was to this Godly union that two sons were born - Boisie II and Eric. Boisie affectionately described his "HONEY" as being intensely focused, extremely dedicated, persistently loyal, consistently enthusiastic, fervently firm, highly organized, fundamentally methodical and totally committed. He further stated, "We did things to gether and were always each other s very best friend!" It is worthy to mention that many couples were brought unto each other via Coren s unique ability to serve as the ideal Matchmaker - An example of her expertise may be found in Mr. and Mrs. Ellis (Deborah) Steed, both of whom teach presently in Josey Comprehensive High School., As regards Mrs. Wilson s local church affiliations, she met Rev. Dr. Robert Turner in 1976 while on the faculty of the Edward E. Murphey Junior High School. Shortly after their professional camaraderie, she united with the Good Samaritan Baptist Church. She served with distinction in Good Samaritan for many years, but later united with the Good Hope Baptist Church in an effort to be with her wonderful husband. In both of her churches, she gave meritorious service via her notewotthy contributions in various auxiliaries and organiza tions.

4 In addition to her impeccable devotion to her family, churches and similar agencies, Mrs. Wilson will, per haps, be most profoundly remembered as an educator of eminence and phenomenal achievements in areas, which are too numerous to cite in this piece of discourse. However, the family, all of whom are extremely proud of her successes wish for her legacy of triumph ration to be holistic and inclusive. Coren s legendary service impacted hundreds during her nearly thirty years in the Richmond County Schools. As an educa tional leader who drew upon the Human Resources Approach to Supervision, Mrs. Wilson espoused a lead ership style, which perpetuated high visibility throughout the learning environment. She was rarely seated at her desk during the school day, but was rather seen in the many classrooms observing teachers and students; She was frequently visible in the corridors to insure that the school she led was possessed with an appropriate "Feeling Tone" and an atmosphere most conducive to effective, efficient and relevant learning. She commu nicated with all students and knew each child by name. 1 In pursuit of scholastic preparation and credential for certification, COREN matriculated several institutions of graduate significance. She held the Master of Education in Chemistry from the University of South Caro lina in Columbia, S.C.; Coren earned the Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Augusta State University. At the time of her demise she was in active pursuit of the Doctorate Degree from Florida s Sarasota University. -..., r - Specifically, her instructional expertise was given in the Edward E. Murphey Junior High School, and the Thomas Walter Josey Comprehensive High School (Department Chairlady). The Josey faculty selected her as the STAR Teacher for the school year. She was again chosen by the Josey faculty as the "TEACHER OF THE YEAR" for It was due to her outstanding preparedness and scholarly astuteness that she returned to Murphey Middle School as the Assistant Principal in It was from Murphey Middle, the school in which she began her teaching career, that she was assigned as Principal of Meadowbrook Elemen tary School. It was her uniqueness and her personal will to push for excellence that Meadowbrook rose to heights of prominence and noteworthiness in the Southeast. The Augusta Chronicle, Thursday, April 7, 2005, " State PTA Organization Names Meadowbrook Princi pal Among Best," highlighted Mrs. Coren Wilson as the 2005 Principal of the Year, only having served since 2002! She was the only Principal from Richmond County to be selected in The Sparta Ishmaelite. Thursday, April 21, "Hancock Native Among State s Best Principals" cited their own achiever for her distinguished honor. It is without question that this warrior in the educational domain was truly possessed with an inexplicable passion for motivating and challenging students, teachers, parents and the larger society alike! The Richmond County Schools System is cognitively richer and culturally stronger today because of this GIANT in Education - COREN HARRIS WILSON! Those pilgrims who will continue to tread this earthly sojourn while holding fondly and dearly her legacy include: A devoted husband, Mr. Boisie Wilson, III; two loving sons, Mr. Boisie Wilson, III, Savannah, GA and Mr. Eric Wilson, Augusta, GA: Prayerful and concerned parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam (Effie) Harris, Sparta, GA; Four compassionate sisters, Mrs. Eular (Rev.
