2 BERNICE (MAE) BURTON KENT, daughter of the late Deacon Willie E. Burton and the late Fannie Mae Burton Singleton, departed this life on March 6, 1997 at Lincoln Hospital. She was bom April 22, 1937 in Hephzibah, Georgia and lived most of her life in New York City. BERNICE was baptized at an early age by Rev. Murphy at Liberty Baptist Church, and became a membrer of Immaculate Conception Church, serving faithfully for many years. She attended Lucy C. Laney High, where she graduated with her class of "56". BERNICE was employed by the Maternity and Infant Care for twenty six years as a Supervising Clerk. She leaves to cherish her memory: a son, Maurice C. Kent, Bronx, NY; a daughter, Rashida N. Pridgen, Bronx, NY; three sisters, Eunice Terrell, Augusta, GA; Emma P. President, Atlanta, GA; and Alyce Williams, Greenville, TN; a devoted cousin, Margie Murray, Augusta, GA; two stepbrothers, John McArthur Singleton and Leon Singleton, Savannah, GA; a stepsister, Vivian Singleton Smith, Augusta, GA; a devoted aunt, Bessie Burton; a very special friend, Robert Pridgen; a daughter-in-law, Antoinette Murray-Kent; a sister-in-law, Susie M. Blount Burton, Augusta, GA; two uncles, Bettis Burton, Hempstead, NY; and Rev. George A. Williams, Augusta, GA; two aunts, Pauline C. Williams and Irene Burton, Augusta, GA; nine nieces and four nephews; four godchildren, Wanda, Yvette and Edwina Terrell all of Augusta, GA; and Cheryl Gates, Providence, RI; and a host of loving great-nieces and nephews; other relatives, church and school members and friends.

3 Can Mother, today our hearts are full of sadness, Our skies seem dark and gray, Sunshine has little meaning, Since you left us yesterday. You listened to our problems, Sometimes big ones and others small You -were our strength and our consolation Mother, you loved us one and all. You were a beautiful and wonderful mother, That anyone could Behold. You were sweet and so land, Mother, you had a heart of gold! We shed our tears today, Mother, As we take a final look upon your lovely face, Goodbye, our loving mother, Until we meet again in that wonderful place. "YOU ARE OUR ANGEL " WE LOVE YOU!!... 5 To Aunt Mae We will always remember our Aunt Mae, for the loving care and devotion she gave us. We mourn today, but tommorow we will learn to rejoice for we know that her spirit will always be with us and we will still be in her care. Aunt Mae devoted her life to others, she never complained of being too tired and seldom let anyone know her own pains. We can give no greater gift to our aunt than to live as she taught us caring for others. Now that your work on earth is done your work in heaven has just begun. We will never forget the work you ve done, you always thought of others. We will always love and cherish you in our hearts and memories. We love you Aunt Mae.... Nieces and Nephews
