3 Frederick Hawkins II affectionately known as Bube was born on April 27, He was the second oldest of ten siblings. He was educated in Newark, NJ School system. In his early years he played for South Side High School s football team along with his friend Dr. George Cureton. Frederick was eighteen years old when he became a Light Weight Boxer. He was employed at Raritan Army Base for two years. Also, during his early years he was tutored by Mr. Smith on Spruce Street of which he became an efficient, dedicated Presser in the Cleaners Industry. Frederick enjoyed photographing as a hobby and was also a part time employed as a photographer. Bube loved jogging in Weequahic Park, walking throughout the cities of Newark, Irvington and Hillside. He loved horse racing, horseback riding, and watching golf with Tiger Woods. Frederick was an advocate of President Obama. When you asked him how he felt his response would be, Frederick was a long time church member with Trinity United Methodist Church and dedicated singer in the choir. God s silent angels sealed his lips on Friday, October 19, 2012 and his spirit went to join his Heavenly Father. Frederick was predeceased by his third wife, Ornetta Patterson-Lockette, his mother, Frances Van Horn Jackson-Campbell, step-father, James C. Campbell, his son, Frederick III, grandchildren, Frederick IV, Monique Hughes, Linda Ann Fields, Semaj Gear, Janila Hawkins and Janeiska Hawkins; and his siblings, Malcolm Campbell, Jeanette Minter and Alice Hinton; as well as his best friends, Clyde Conners and Pastor Leon Randall.

5 The memory of Frederick Hawkins II will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family: his children, Hajj Ahmid Barrett-Baqqi (Hajjah Jamillah), Hajjah Arminta Dale Hawkins-Muhammad, Denice Delfonte Hawkins-Delamar (Sylvester), Richard Lockette (Lillian) and Faye Lockette-Slaughter (Clifford); twenty grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, twenty-seven great great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, four sisters, Delores Neblett-Simmons, Hajjah Bernice B. Ali (Hajj Charles Ali), Hajjah Melvina Campbell- Odom (Edward) and Rosalind Campbell; two brothers, Eugene Campbell (Geneva) and James Campbell (Marilyn); three aunts, Anna Montgomery, Newark, NJ, Carrie Walden, Bainbridge, GA and Gwendolyn Wright, Washington, DC; his daughterin-law, Geraldine Hawkins; special friend, Ms. Doris Best and sons; special friends at Stratford Manor who will miss him dearly, Miss Lucy, Edward, Mr. Fishbane, Larry and Miss Ann; his family church members at Trinity United Methodist Church; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. ~ Lovingly submitted, The Family ~

6 Don t grieve for me, for now I m free I m following the path God laid for me I took his hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it up with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh, yes these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life s been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don t lengthen it now with undue grief.
