2 Obituary Mr. James Richard Morton, Sr. was born March 6, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. WiJIie (Rosa) Morton in Columbia County, Georgia. He entered into rest Friday, September 21, 2007 at University Hospital. Richard graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School in 1965 and Augusta Technical College in Richard was employed by Olin Chemicals for thirty-four years. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a member of the male chorus. Richard was a member of Master City Golfers Association and played on the Southeastern Golf Tour. He leaves to mourn his passing, a loving wife of thirty-four years, Mrs. Brenda H. Morton; two daughters, Kelsha Morton, McDonough, Georgia and Sharon M. Guthrie, Atlanta, Georgia; one son, James Richard (Jerelyn) Morton, Jr., Stockbridge, Georgia; an adopted son, Carnie B. Horton, Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Mrs. Joann (George) Williams; two > brothers, Mr. Robert Morton and Mr. Randolph (Earlene) Morton, all of Augusta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Lauren, James Richard HE, Kaitlyn, Angelique and DeErico; seven brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Huff, North Augusta, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His father and two brothers preceded him in death, Mose Eddie and Thomas Morton.

5 " Reasons for ife" I don t know how to say it, but some How it seems to me That maybe we are stationed where God wants us to be; That the little place Pm filling is the Reason for my birth, And just to do the work I do, He sent M.e down to earth. If God had wanted otherwise, I reckon He d have made Me just a little different, or a worse or better grade. And, since God knows and under stands all things of land and sea, I fancy that He placed me here, just Where He wanted me. Sometimes I get to thinking, as my Labors I review. That I should like a higher place with Greater things to do; But I come to the conclusions, -when The envying is stilled. That the post to which God sent me Is the post He wanted filled. So I plod along and struggle in the Hope, when the day is through. That Pm really necessary to the Things God wants to do; And there isn t any service I can give Which I should scorn. For it may be just the reason God Allowed that I be born. T Tta
