This year we are meeting at Hells Gate State Park the first weekend in June. Camping is more than just s mores (even though that is very important). It provides opportunities to fellowship with each other in the great outdoors, sans technology. Fellowship is an important aspect of church-life. Camping together allows us to share a meal, enjoy laughter and get to know our church family in a relaxed setting. For more information on the All-Church Campout, see page 5. May 2015 LINK: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Genesis 9:13-15 Whenever we see a rainbow, we are reminded of God s everlasting covenant to us. As you see rainbows during the month of May, be reminded of our faithful God and His love for us. 2
3 Dear Church Family, With Associate Pastor Josh Bruns having announced his resignation effective June 30, I would like to bring you up to date on our plan for filling this position on our church staff. Since Pastor Josh s announcement, the Board of our Church has met in four special meetings, in addition to their regular April and May Board meetings. Feedback to the Board from the congregation has come through personal conversations, the yellow card and online response forms, and the Town Hall Meeting held on May 17. The Board reviewed Pastor Josh s position description, as well as a document Josh put together called What Josh Does which gave us a detailed overview of his responsibilities. It was determined that our priority is to find the best person for the position. If that is an Associate Pastor, that would be good, but it is not necessary. Therefore, two virtually identical position descriptions have been developed, one for an Associate Pastor of Congregational Life and one for a Director of Congregation Life, along with a list of desired qualifications for the position which include educational background, call to ministry, competencies, past experience, personal core values, and personal characteristics. The Board is in the process of putting together a Search Committee that will be tasked with seeking the person for the position. The Search Committee will be presented to the church at a Meeting of the Congregation for approval. They will then begin their work, which includes interfacing with the two denominations of which we are a member, and working within their systems of calling an Associate Pastor. At the same time they will advertize nationally through other means the position of Director. Receiving resumes from both ordained and non-ordained people, they will prayerfully seek the best person for the position. The Board also addressed the interim situation after Pastor Josh leaves and before the position is filled. The Board determined that there are three critical areas of responsibility that need to be addressed: youth ministry support, Sunday Worship assisting and preaching back-up, and The Well leadership beginning in September. We are pursuing help in these areas through local, interim sources. The Board continues to welcome your questions and suggestions, and most of all your prayers as we go through this transitional time together. We are looking forward to seeing what God will do among us, and we are open to his leading. While we are waiting for our new person, God is at work putting everything in its place so at the right time he can bring us into the new situation. Meanwhile, we continue ministering as a church, confident that what we don t know presently will be made clear to us by God when he is ready. Yours, 3
4 Summer Worship 9:00am Contemporary Service This worship offers a relaxed way to praise our Lord. Our talented Song Team leads our music. Children s Church is available for kids entering Preschool thru 5th grade (kids excused after young disciples). Come as you are and worship in a casual atmosphere. 10:15am All-Church Fellowship Join us for coffee and cookies to catch-up with each other s lives. This sense of community is vital in the Church atmosphere, as we get to know our neighbors! Childcare available. 11:00am Traditional Service This worship is traditional with hymn selections sung by our choir and special music offerings. Join us for refreshments following worship. Save the Date: Join us on Sunday, June 21st for a Mission Pancake Feed at 10am in Fellowship Hall. All are welcome! Dear Congo-Pres friends, June is here, and so are the opportunities to be stewards of God's creation. Plant something, anything to grow in the vegetable or fruit or flower category and bring your "harvest" in to share at church in July and August. A single carrot will do. It is amazing what God can do with our efforts, however humble they might be. Thanks for being stewards of Christ in this place and at this time. ~Blessings, The Stewardship Committee 4 Yay! The produce table is coming soon!

Taking care of the flower beds is one of those tasks, here at the church that has become very difficult for me, due to the damaged femoral nerve in my left leg. It is very difficult for me to work in the flower beds because I can t easily get up and down anymore. Because of this, I am seeking help keeping the flower beds looking beautiful. If any of the congregation has a green thumb and would like to help with this task, it would be greatly appreciated. This could be as simple as just coming into the church from time-to-time and pulling weeds, or you could adopt one of the many beds for your very own project and give it a total make over. If you are interested in donating some of your time to help keep our church beautiful, please come to, or call the office ( ) 10 Thank you for your help with our flower beds! Dick Sherwin
