1 Chaska Moravian Church A Word from Rev. Mike Eder The ice is officially out on Lake Minnetonka, all the winter pruning is finished. The magnolia buds are engorged like wood ticks on a big dog s back. The rhubarb seems to be winning the battle for earliest leafage? Leafiness? Leafation? Anyway, I think it s safe to say that we are surrounded by the signs of new life bursting out all around us. JOIN US FOR EARLY BIRD SUNDAY SCHOOL! Children ages 3 & up, join us before worship, 9am April 2, April 16, April 30 May 14, May 28 Register now & join in the fun! Registrations on hallway table. Can you help? We need volunteers to assist with. If you d like to help, sign up on hallway table. Contact Katie Nordby with questions. CMC Joint Board Board of Elders Rev. Mike Eder Chair Jill Edwardsen Vice Chair Deb Zwart Katie Nordby Tammy Riesgraf Recording Secretary Trustees Kelly Jeremiason President Phil Schramm Vice President Dwight Crisman Recording Secretary Karl Taylor Even as we are surrounded by the gift of new life, are we not also filled with it as well? This week my first grandchild celebrates her 5th birthday, which has grandpa busy assembling birthday presents and inflating bicycle tires. Yesterday she called me on the phone just to say Thank You. Does life get any richer than this? Last week Tom Riesgraf hauled 12 bags of organic refuse out of our landscaping to deposit in Ekstrom s ravine to make way for the torrent of plants and flowers that lie in wait just below the surface of the dark, moist soil. The Schmitz family (Miss Lily and her parents Kelli and Jason) have completed the rigorous process of applying for membership with the Chaska Moravian Church and will be received into the fold on a New Member Sunday during April! These Wednesday evenings during Lent have been spent in worship and liturgy, in song and in Holy conversations reflecting upon what it looks like to walk in solidarity with the Savior during tumultuous times. The parade to Easter that begins on Palm Sunday does not end on a hill at a bloody cross, but continues to an empty grave and the new life that awaits us all on the other side. Hold fast to the promises, hold fast to the practices, hold fast to the principles that have brought us this far. Like the hostas and the lilies, there is new life a commin just outside of our field of vision. There is new life a commin! Don t forget we have our last Wednesday soup/service on the 5th followed by our annual Palm Sunday trek to the sanctuary on the 9th. The 13th is our Maundy Thursday/Good Friday 2 for 1 service at 7:30PM when we welcome the Presbyterians from Shepherd of the Hill into our worship (with Holy Communion). On Easter morning we will welcome the son/sun at our sunrise service beginning at the church at 6:00AM and moving to our cemetery on the hill. After that, it s the annual Nathan Huisenga Foundation breakfast and our Easter celebration at 9:30. A Blessed Easter to all! Pastor Mike
