1 2016 ANNUAL REPORT OUR MISSION Our mission is to mobilize local churches to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ. OUR VISION To see Christian churches united in purpose and fully engaged in actively living out their faith by lovingly serving people in need in their communities. OUR CORE VALUES We are CHRISTIAN. Everything we think, say, and do is in the name of Christ. PRAYER is an integral part of who we are. We follow Christ s example of valuing PEOPLE IN NEED. We value UNITY of the Body of Christ. We value TRANSFORMATION in the lives of people and communities. We value CHURCHES living out the two great commandments to love God and their neighbors. We value building Christ-like RELATIONSHIPS. We value the CONNECTEDNESS of the Love INC movement. We model EXCELLENCE. We value continually MATURING in our capacity to meet people s needs.

2 LETTER FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT Russell St. John Carver County is one of the fastest growing counties in Minnesota, with Eastern Carver County experiencing most of that growth. Many of our neighbors are only one paycheck away from need or are spiritually broken. As we look at our broken world, it s easy to ask God why he doesn t do something. But He did. In John 3, we are taught, For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. In Mark 12, Jesus clearly tells us that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. We are also taught to love your neighbor as yourself. The volunteers serving Love INC are resources from God. Our neighbors in need see Christ s love shining through as they are served by Christian volunteers from different denominations and different walks of life. We thank all our volunteers and partner churches for walking beside us as we transform lives in the name of Christ across our community was a year of change. Love INC has been blessed with a new Executive Director, Ken Norman, and a new Communications Coordinator, Kelley Stokesbary. They bring great Christian faith and hearts to the team, as well as the tools to lead Love INC into the next 10 years. We couldn t be more fortunate to have them join the staff. Also in 2016, our volunteers moved our FurniShare ministry into a new, long-term location in Chanhassen near Cub Foods. We all believe God had His hand directly on this. The retail operation provides the stability we ve sought for some time and allows us to be open many more hours each week. Please stop by and visit sometime! We extend our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, staff, Pastors, Board of Directors, and all members of the community that support the Love INC effort. Please continue your support and prayers for Love INC and our neighbors in need. In the following pages, you ll see the impact partner church volunteers have had in our community, understand where we stand financially, and read some powerful stories on how Christ s love has made a difference. Hebrews 13:8 Love in the Name of Christ of Eastern Carver County Is a 501(c)3 non-profit Christian ministry made up of a partnership of 25 local Christian churches serving Eastern Carver County individuals and families in need and is affiliated with the nationwide Love INC movement. We serve local partner churches so they can serve Eastern Carver County residents in need without judgment. We collaborate with local community agencies by taking referrals for assistance to help in areas their services aren t able to address. We give referrals of verified needs that are appropriate to the services they do provide.

3 LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Ken Norman partner of The future of Love INC is bright! Love INC has tremendous potential to transform lives and our communities through our 25 partner churches in I m hoping to spend a Sunday morning at each of our partner churches to share the vision of Love INC and to invite congregations to become more involved in serving through Love INC. We d love to see each church provide FurniShare volunteers two Saturday mornings per year. This kind of Love INC network wide involvement would have tremendous impact on so many people. Love INC has been blessed with a strong connection to Eastern Carver County schools. We are excited to be partnering with the school district to end food insecurity for families within the communities served by our school district. Love INC is well-respected within our community. As ED, I ve been invited to a variety of community service groups and activities. These relationships and communication with our partner churches and community organizations help us understand the needs of the community and how the faith community can have an impact. Prayer is the single most important ingredient in the recipe for continued success for Love INC. Please pray for us every time you think of us. Pray for our partner churches, their Pastors, our Ministry leaders, our volunteers, our staff, and our clients. We are the front line of ministry and we need the support of a praying Church lifting us up. To quote Mother Teresa, Prayer in action is love; love in action is service. When someone thanks Love INC, they re thanking 25 partner churches. 4 2016 MINISTRY STATISTICS Love INC is a relational ministry. We bridge relationships between church volunteers and neighbors in need, relationships among churches, relationships with Christians across multiple denominations, and relationships throughout our community. The Clearinghouse receives requests for help, screens them, verifies that needs and the client information are genuine, and then refers the request to a partner church ministry, volunteer, or community agency. Follow-up phone calls are made to ensure the need was met, offer spiritual support, and to continue relationship-building. All Love INC ministries are built off of the Clearinghouse foundation. Clearinghouse Volunteers: 12+ volunteers serve as intake workers representing our partner churches in the Clearinghouse. 51% of clients called only one time in 2016

We were considering looking for a volunteer position to give me a new purpose in life and something to do when we attended the Love INC banquet in A few weeks after the banquet, I called Love INC and they worked with me to find a position that I could handle. My volunteer work with Love INC is at the clearinghouse every Wednesday where I answer hones. Volunteering at Love INC has given me a new purpose in life. I look forward to Wednesdays when I can connect with the very accommodating staff, and get to do my volunteer work answering phone calls from people in need. This opportunity has helped me to see the need of so many people, that many of us are not aware or or if we are aware of it, we do not realize just how many people really are in need. Love INC has given me a new purpose in life that has always been part of God s plan for me. God has truly blessed me through Love INC, and for that I am very thankful. Love INC helps partner churches develop ministries to fill the gaps NEEDS MET GAP MINISTRIES 387 Birthday Bag Ministry provides supplies for birthday celebrations, including a small present, gift card, and a birthday kit complete with cake, party favors, plates, napkins and party hats. St. Hubert Catholic Church Volunteer Coordinator: Karen Reich 225 Personal Care Ministry provides basic hygiene needs of soap, shampoo, razors, toilet paper, etc. Mount Olivet Lutheran Church West Volunteer Coordinator: Connie Johnston and Sonya Lund 210 Clean Sweep Ministry provides basic cleaning supplies such as paper towels, sponges, cleaning supplies, and more. St. Victoria Catholic Church Volunteer Coordinator: John Helgerson 208 Loads of Love Ministry provides laundry detergent, dish soap, dryer sheets and dishwasher detergent. Westbrook Community Church Volunteer Coordinator: Jason Stegenga and Heather Wang 187 FurniShare Ministry provides gently-used donated furniture to (206 Beds) individuals and families delivered by partner church volunteers. Valley Free Evangelical Church Volunteer Coordinator: Peter Isabell 1 Smart Start Ministry provides mentoring and school supplies to aid parents of preschoolers during early childhood development. Crown of Glory Lutheran Church Volunteer Coordinator: Sue Aschenbeck and Tracy Cunningham 2016 NUMBER SERVED EVENT 400 Families Backpack Ministry is part of The School Locker and provides necessary school supplies at the start of each school year for students in pre-kindergarten through high school. Discovery United Methodist Church Volunteer Coordinator: Melissa Niemiera 100 Families Christmas Food Distribution is part of the Food to Fight Hunger Ministry providing holiday food several times during the year. Mount Olivet Lutheran Church West, St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Westwood Community Church 90 Families Thanksgiving Food Distribution is part of the Food to Fight Hunger Ministry providing holiday food several times during the year. St. John s Lutheran Church, West Union Lutheran Church 36 Individuals Project LifeCycle Bike Distribution provides bicycles to youth and adults. Church on the Hill Partner Organization: A Better Society 35 Families Easter Basket and Food Distribution is part of the Food to Fight Hunger Ministry providing food several times during the year. Mount Olivet Lutheran Church West Adults Monthly Saturday Connection is a partnership with Waybury Apartments and partner churches to help with chores and share lunch.

9 BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Board of Directors are agents of discernment with the responsibility to govern and develop policies that give direction to the activities of Love INC of Eastern Carver County and give credibility to the ministry within the community. Members of the board are committed to the mission and vision of Love INC, willing to volunteer sufficient time for a three year term, and donate resources to help achieve the mission. They understand and fulfill their responsibilities.
