II Corinthians 36 WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 1030 am February 7 Communion / Installation of Officers February 10 Ash Wednesday / Communion February 14, 21, 28 Regular Worship Services NEW STOVE AND OVEN Our fifty year old stove that was leaking gas and causing all kinds of problems (oven won t light, burner s won t light, rust, etc.) is on it s way out!! It served us well for many years but its time has come! In its place we have ordered a brand new Garman Commercial oven and stove top. It has ten burners and two large ovens. Basically it is an updated version of our old stove/oven. This new appliance cost $4, If it lasts anywhere near as long as the old one it will be a worthwhile investment and it will provide more safety and convenience for our cooks! We have had several donations for a new stove/oven in the last few months and will use those funds and money from the Legacy Fund to pay the bill. We still have some events coming up like the Swiss Steak Dinner and the Quilt Raffle, and Soup Sunday soup sales that are earmarked to raise money for the stove due to safety concerns we just could not wait until these events were complete. We intend to put proceeds from these events and any other donations toward the new stove into the Legacy Fund to reimburse ourselves, thus keeping a decent balance for emergencies or immediate need type capital projects. STOVE FUNDRAISER February 19, 2016 Dinner 600 pm followed by Auction Join us for a great Swiss Steak dinner followed by a live auction and quilt drawing. Tickets available from Ed Klein or the church office. Dinner $15 ($5 kids 14 and under); Quilt $10 each or 3 for $25. Fern s grandparents are John & Jill Kolodziej and Marvin & Phyllis Franke. Baptism On January 10 of Quinn Richard Knipfer, son of George and Julia Knipfer. Quinn was born on August 31, 2015 in Waukesha, WI. His grandparents are Thomas & Ellen Knipfer, Richard & Jean Kienzle and Eileen Black. His sponsors are Dennis and AnnMarie Knipfer. Our Sympathy and Prayers to the Family and Friends of Wallace Butch Tess, Jr. who died on December 26, A ser vice of r emembr ance was held at Huehns Funeral Home on December 30, Donna (Moe) Woods who died on J anuar y 1, 2016 in Suwanee, GA. 3 Page 3 LOOKING AHEAD We are making some changes in the Easter schedule this year. We are eliminating the 800 am service at Sturgeon Bay. Some of these are hard sayings because thousands of years have obscured the meaning of his teaching in the ancient context. Some of the things Jesus said are simply hard for us to hear. 4 WE ARE THE CHURCH TOGETHER NEWSLETTER TITLE Page 44 Page MEN S RETREAT - FEBRUARY Men s Christian Retreat, sponsored by the Men s Fellowship of the Lake Mills Moravian Church to be held at the Mt. Morris Camp and Conference Center, Wautoma, WI. The Spirituality of Ignatius Loyola Facilitator is Rev. Michael Eder, Pastor of the Chaska Moravian Church. The retreat begins with the evening meal at 600 pm on Friday, February 26. There will be an introductory session at 730 pm. For those who can t make it until Saturday, breakfast will be at 800 am, with a group gathering at 900 am. The retreat concludes on Sunday morning with closing worship and communion after breakfast. You may come Friday afternoon as early as 400 pm for registration. The weekend includes Teaching, fellowship, music ministry (bring instruments if you like), fireside chats, quiet time, time for walks, group discussions and opportunities to enjoy God s creation. Cost $85 (includes $25 deposit, due by Febr uar y 19) Total includes five meals and cabin accommodations. (Black Oak accommodations are an additional $25 per person. Some rooms are for one, two or three. Assignments will be made in the order registrations are received.) Registration forms can be found on the bulletin board outside Coffee Hus/Fellowship Room or by contacting the SBMC office. MISSION UPDATE As many of you already know we are making major changes to our congregation s mission ministry. Most significantly Jill Kolodziej will no longer be serving as the Youth Mission Coordinator of the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church. We are very grateful for the many years of service that Jill provided the congregation and the impact her work has had on the lives of many of our young people. Jill served the congregation for many years as a volunteer before she served as part time staff. We pray for God s continued blessing on her work with the Moravian Board of World Mission. Our support of Rick Nelson and the work in Honduras will continue. The Board of Elders will be working, over the next few months, to reorganize our many youth mission programs as we look toward the future. Other changes underway include We are moving toward alternating New York and Jamaica trips to every other year. We are also planning on moving the New York trip to the summer to address the growing difficulties in working around school and sports activities. We are working on our Middle School trip to Urban Immersion for this summer. We are also working on helping PATH and Loaves and Fishes move from being under the umbrella of our congregation to becoming their own stand-alone organizations. Your prayers and support are deeply appreciated as we explore new directions in this critical area for our church.

5 Page 5 LILIES FOR EASTER Our Worship Committee extends an invitation for you to place a lily in our Sanctuary this Easter to celebrate someone who touched your life. For only $ 14.00, we will purchase a lily, each with 5-9 blooms in a 6 pot from a local florist. Each plant will be in a foil-wrapped pot with a bow. The lily may be placed in honor or in memory of a special person in your life. To do so, please complete the bottom portion of this sheet and return it, with your check, to the church office no later than Monday, March 16. Checks may be made payable to the Moravian Church. (Please note that this is not a tax-deductible contribution, since you will be receiving the plant, which is valued at more than the $14.00 gift.)
