1 Chaska Moravian Church A WORD FROM YOUR JOINT BOARD As we enter into the first month of Pastor Mike serving us as a part-time, rather than full-time pastor, we d like to clarify what his role and duties will be. Number one, Pastor Mike remains the sole pastor and spiritual head of church congregation. Among his monthly duties, Pastor Mike will: - prepare & lead 2 Sunday worship services - prepare & lead 1 Joint Board meeting -prepare for/preside over 1 funeral -perform required minimum administrative & denominational duties -perform limited pastoral visitation as necessary - office hours on Wednesdays & possibly others by arrangement YOU ARE INVITED TO EARLY BIRD SUNDAY SCHOOL! The goal is a maximum of 80 hours/month. He will receive half his salary for half-time hours, and comparable vacation/holidays as CMC s parttime staff receives. Actual time spent will be supervised by one Elder (Jill Edwardsen) and one Trustee(Phil Schramm) on a regular basis. Pastor Mike will seek approval from the board for any additional services not specifically delineated here, and receive direction for any other services required. This is a transitional period, while we explore the feasibility (financially especially) of various scenarios once Pastor Mike retires fully from service to us. While not officially entering the call process, we will be asking the District to keep our church in mind, in the event they come across a potential pastoral candidate they feel well-suited to Chaska Moravian Church. Change can seem scary, but can also be very exciting. Our hope is that we can view this as an opportunity to explore and grow in the ministry we provide to the community and to each other. 2 CHURCH PICNIC Sunday May 20 th will mark the end of the season, and we will celebrate with a picnic right after church!! The Joint Board will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs and providing potato salad. Please find the sign-up sheet in the hallway and let us know how many will be attending and what you plan to share. Everyone is welcome!! CONTACT INFORMATION With our new normal beginning this month, there may be times you need to contact someone from church, and it may be on a day Pastor Mike is not scheduled to be in the office. Please consider donating your gently used home furnishings to our FurniShare ministry. The following items are currently on our most needed list: - Twin mattresses and box springs - Twin metal bed frames - Nightstands - Coffee tables and end tables - Countertop microwaves Donations must be clean and in good condition. As the state's population has become increasingly urbanized, it has become evident that there is a growing need for easily accessible fishing opportunities close to where people live. THE LINEN CLOSET Chaska Moravian Church s Linen Closet is a ministry that partners with Love INC to provide bedding / linens to our neighbors in need in Eastern Carver County.
