1 St. James Catholic Church Seguin, TX April 28, 2013 NOTES FROM YOUR PASTOR I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your love and support over the years that I have been a priest. I am especially grateful to both of my parents, the late Edwin Darilek and my mother, Florence. Mom continues to be an inspiration to our family. Dad and mom were great examples of love and service to family, church, community, and country. My sister Darcy and husband Charlie, brother D.J. and Pauletta, and their children have been a great blessing to me. I have bee privileged to work with good bishops, pastors, associates, religious sisters and brothers, deacons, and lay leadership. I have served in communities of Christ the King, Holy Family, St. Benedict s, Archdiocesan Vocation Office, St. Paul s, Our Lady of Good Counsel, and now St. James. I am very proud of our parish and school. Every parish has truly been a blessing as I have met so many good friends over the years. I am blessed to have my priest support group that has met for over 38 years: Fr. Eddie Bernal, Fr. Paul Raaz, Fr. Mike DeGerolami, Fr. Mike Horan, and the late Fr. Albert Benavides. I am very appreciative of my fellow classmate and friend, Fr. Jim Barlow, who celebrates his 40th next month at St. Luke s. These have been my best friends and support. I am doubly blessed to work with a great priest friend, Fr. Greg. We are privileged to work in a great parish and we ask for your prayers for both of us. Love, Fr. 3 St. James Catholic Church Seguin, TX April 28, 2013 THE YEAR OF FAITH THE CREED "...and the life of the world to come." "I am the Resurrection and the Life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die." ( John 11:25-26). We are told of and believe in the resurrection on the last day. For the ones who believe and live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ there will be everlasting life. "Those who die in God's grace and friendship and are perfectly purified live forever with Christ." (CCC 1023). This joining in union with the Most Holy Trinity- this communion of life and love with the Trinity... is called "HEAVEN." (CCC 1024). This is the "world to come" the "life everlasting" of which we speak and for which we hope. How do we get there? By believing and living in the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by dying in the grace of God, a "State of Grace." We have been promised eternal, everlasting, life if we believe and follow Jesus Christ. This promise is one promise upon we may depend. If there is one whose promises are true and beyond doubt, that One is God. He has given us many gifts over time since creation and one of those is the gift of "Free Will." By this gift we are given the choice as to the direction in which we will move our lives. The choice to follow and to believe is ours alone so the hope of eternal life, while it has been promised to us by the Father, still depends upon our believing in Him. Eternity WILL be ongoing, eternal life Will be given, we DO need to make a choice to participate in this eternal togetherness with the Holy Trinity. The only other option to that is eternal damnation, and the thought of eternity without heaven is too horrible to even imagine! Let us All plan to meet again on that last day as we enter heaven's gates to the welcome of the Saints, Angels, the Blessed Mother, and most especially the Holy Trinity. Religious Education News We are nearing the end of the Religious Education year with our students. The last Sunday morning Religious Education classes are being held this weekend.
