When we are truly known, our fellow Christians know how to encourage us and pray for us. This happens best in a small group.

However, not everyone in our church is connected yet. Being a new person, I also consider those who are either new to the church or not connected to any church.

This is a primary focus of my ministry: to find creative ways to form new groups with adults of all ages, especially those in my younger demographic.

And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2: 44, 46b-47) In every community, there is an inherent need to be known in order to really feel connected. I don t mean known as in your age or your job, but rather your passions, concerns and dreams. As a church, we are called to live life together in an effort to more faithfully follow Jesus. When we are truly known, our fellow Christians know how to encourage us and pray for us. This happens best in a small group. At KFUMC we are blessed to have small groups like Sunday school, Bible studies, Emmaus reunion groups, music groups, and more where people really know one another. However, not everyone in our church is connected yet. Being a new person, I also consider those who are either new to the church or not connected to any church. How can we help new people to meet with Christ and one another in a new way? This is a primary focus of my ministry: to find creative ways to form new groups with adults of all ages, especially those in my younger demographic. These groups will emphasize relationship, prayer and spiritual growth. Things won t happen overnight, but I believe the Spirit is already at work supporting us and preparing the hearts of many. By prayerfully seeking God s vision and help, our church and community will better come to know, and be known by, God and one another. In Christ, Rev. 2 AUGUST WORSHIP EVENTS Faith Fundamentals Sermon Series Rev. Kevin Portwood and Rev. David Payne will be preaching a 6-part series, Faith Fundamentals throughout the month of August. This series will help the congregation get to know our new pastor better and at the same time, challenge each of us to be thinking and looking for opportunities in our lives to see God s hand at work to draw us closer to Him. The format of this series will be new - the two pastors will alternate services each week. On one Sunday, Kevin will preach the 8:15 and 10:45 services, while David preaches the 9:30 and 11:15 services. Then the next Sunday they will switch. It will be a great series. We have a vibrant and growing bus ministry for those without transportation to the church. We are in need of two adults to be on each bus, simply providing presence.

Forge Youth Brock Bomkamp Youth Leadership in Transition Brock Bomkamp, Youth Director for the past two years, will be moving August 9th to Wilmore Kentucky to complete his Master of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. We will miss him and wish him well in this new chapter in his life. Thank you KFUMC Family for trusting me with such an important ministry of this church and for pouring into me in a way that I could hear the Lord calling once again. You have helped me grow in so many ways, and my relationship with God has grown stronger over the last two years. I have known for a long time that the Lord was calling me to ordained ministry, but I was not ready yet. The Lord used you to get me ready for this time of equipping and used this time to grow me in ways that will forever influence my ministry.
