1 April 2018 Volume 6, Issue 4 Echoes Across the River New Life, New Hope, New Directions Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new creation. The old life is gone, the new life has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17) The miraculous, awesome news of Jesus Christ s resurrection from the dead gives us hope for a better tomorrow. Our sin, our death, our brokenness, our separation from God have all been swallowed up in the victory of Jesus Christ. We have hope that we can rise beyond our human limitations and become more like Jesus every day. We have new life in Jesus, so let us throw off the old self and dive into the new self. Let us no longer linger in the darkness, let us move fully into the light. Let us no longer live with fear and doubt but share the awesome love of God with joy and expectation. New life has come! Jesus is risen from the dead! We have new life, new hope, and can move in a new direction! Kerrville First United Methodist Church is and will be a church that embraces the new life of Jesus Christ. We will grasp onto the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit and lean into the will of God. We will show a radical submission to His will and give glory to God for the amazing things that happen. We hope you will be a part of it too! The policy adopted at Annual Conference in June 2017 outlines the minimum mandatory requirements for screening and training clergy, laity, staff, and volunteers. KFUMC will host a training on-site May 15 from 6-8 pm. Please contact the representative of your ministry area regarding your need to be trained. If you plan to attend this training, you will need to register online at riotexas.org/safe. Locate the training at KFUMC and complete the application form. Also, complete the first of the online Safe Gatherings trainings. If you need assistance with the process, please contact Tina Box at or tina.box@kfumc.org.
