2 GRIEFSHARE Recovery & Support Group Begins Fri., March 1 12:30-2:30 PM Ebenezer/Newark GriefShare is a 13-week program of support for anyone who is grieving the loss of a family member or friend. It is structured around group discussion with focus, video seminars on a variety of grief and recovery subjects, and personal study and reflection. GriefShare helps people meet the challenges of emotional struggles, confusion, and the isolation they may be feeling. It is the opportunity to connect with other people who can understand the deep hurt a person feels after the loss of a loved one. GriefShare is not only for people who may be feeling acute grief because of a recent loss, it is also a resource for people who may have experienced the death of a loved one some time ago but find they may have questions about the recovery process and feeling optimistic about the future. Our GriefShare group will be facilitated by Sue Katzmire, an counselor with Daybreak Counseling. For more information or to sign-up to attend the group, you may contact Sue at (302) or skatzmire@gmail.com, or contact church office at or NewarkEbenezerUMC@verizon.net Ebenezer United Methodist Church 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE Printable Flyer: World Day of Prayer Friday, March 1 Noon Holly Oak Calvary UMC "Come - everything is ready" from Luke 14:15-24 written by the Women of Slovenia. Holly Oak Calvary UMC 1511 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE Who Built the New Testament? Saturday, March 2 10:00 AM Marshallton UMC Come hear Dr. Gerald Culley s presentation on Who Built the New Testament. His lecture recounts his personal experience during the past year when he put together the pieces of a new view (at least for him) of the New Testament canon. In brief, it argues that the NT writings were nearly all completed before AD 70, and cites existing papyrus fragments of six of them from the 50 s AD, then it details clues from Scripture that suggest that the apostles themselves Peter, Paul and John collected our 27 books and formed the canon as we know it. Questions about individual books like II Peter or Hebrews lingered among some believers, but the inspired decisions had been made before the apostles died. 7 Conference Council on Young Adult Ministries CCYAM is looking for young adult leaders who are willing to organize and serve in young adult ministries during the term. CCYAM is a council within the Peninsula Delaware conference, and is led by young adults for young adults. Over the course of the year the CCYAM will plan local mission, fellowship, and worship opportunities for young adults. The goal of CCYAM is to bring together active young adult ministries in local congregations, and young adults without a strong network to come together for ministry opportunities. Some of the current ministries of the CCYAM include an active blog, mission experience to Colombia, and day of fun at Camp Pecometh. Many of the roles and responsibilities of the CCYAM are new, so young adults who are servant leaders and are flexible to changes are important. Members of the CCYAM will help develop and execute the vision for young adult ministry for the Annual Conference. The CCYAM will have at least one young adult from each district within the conference. CCYAM strives to be comprised of individuals of diverse ages within the young adult scope, race and genders.
