Anyone connected to and passionate about the present and future work of LOUMC Where: Lake Orion United Methodist Church We are reminded time and time again of moments in which God spoke to people as they spent time listening, discerning and reflecting on where God was inviting them to walk next. It was also in those moments that those same people were being challenged to take a few steps out in faith while believing in a vision that was much larger than themselves. In a similar way, Pastor Larry and Pastor John along with the vision task force are inviting you to come together as a faith community to take some time to listen, discern and reflect. We will celebrate the strengths of our faith community, while also evaluating those places that we need to stretch ourselves, grow and move forward. Blankets are $10.00 each and a special offering envelope will be provided that Sunday where you can designate in whose honor or memory it is given. Checks should be made out to the church. We will then list those donations in the following weeks' bulletin. PAGE 5 THE LINK MAY 1, 2014 Spotlight on Staff Donna Waite has been the Director of Children s Ministries at Lake Orion United Methodist Church for almost 20 years. She began this position when she moved here from New York 21 years ago, where she was the Christian Education Coordinator. Her job encourages her to wear a variety of hats. She organizes and plans the Sunday morning Kids on the Rock program; organizes Vacation Bible School (VBS) -with the help of the VBS planning team; and helps the Three-in-One Team organize and coordinate their mid-week program. She also helps to plan special events such as the Christmas program, Teacher s Luncheon, and Mother s Day flowers; oversees the supplies used for all of the children s programs; keeps both financial and attendance records for these programs; and organizes mission projects for the children. As you can imagine, this keeps her very busy! Of all of the hats she wears, she enjoys the week when she is participating in VBS the most because it allows her to do crazy things with the kids! (If you ve ever been a part of that wonderful week at LOUMC, we are sure that you can understand why!) Donna has two grown children, four grandchildren and an amazing husband, Jason- to whom she has been married to for nearly 41 years. When you next see Donna (wearing whatever hat she has on at that moment), we hope that you will thank her for the amazing ministry that she is providing to our church family. We appreciate all that you do for us here!

6 PAGE 6 THE LINK MAY 1, 2014 RED BIRD CHRISTIAN SCHOOL BOOK DRIVE First of all, A GREAT BIG THANK YOU, to everyone for your wonderful support of this project. We had a list of 73 non-fiction books, requested by this school, of the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky. All of the titles were taken from the tag boards within the first two weeks. So far I have received confirmation that 54 of the books have been directly shipped or purchased for mailing. This is an amazing response to this appeal for help for this most worthy school. I am still looking to get information on the remaining 19 titles- I check them off the master list, as folks notify me of their donation. Please let me know if you have purchased, shipped or been unable to find your selected book titles. You can me at @mymailstation.com or call me at THANK YOU ALL, ONCE AGAIN, FOR SUCH A GREAT OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT!
