2 Men s Fellowship Dinner 04/12/15 6pm in the Parish Hall Haiti Mission Trip Presentation Who: Father Paul & Mickey Quinlan When: Wednesday, April 22nd Where: the Parlor Time: 6:30pm Speaker, Julie Hartley Please join us on Wednesday, April 15 at 6:30pm to hear Ms. Hartley, Nutritionist, speak on prayer and fasting. Dinner will be served at 6pm. Dearly beloved of Christ Jesus, Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We have made it. We have journeyed through Lent without the Alleluia. I only goofed one time. I hope it was a good time of discipline and focusing on our lives in Christ. To be honest, I did not get done all that I had planned. I can blame illness for part of it. But In the end, I left undone that which I ought to have done. This is the great thing about the Easter story. When I say Easter story I include Good Friday. We do damage to the message when we try to separate what God intended to be two segments of one event. It is called Good Friday/Easter. Churches that focus upon the cross only, will be strong on judgment and our need for confession (which I have just done above). Churches that focus Easter only tend to be shallow in theology and offer cheap grace. (Continued on page 4) 2 Our Daily Prayers... We pray for the Anglican Communion, Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury, Katherine, Presiding Bishop, Jake, our bishop, and Joy, Julio, Bishop of the Dominican Republic, our companion diocese, President Obama and all those in authority, and St. Paul s - her ministries, mission, priest, people, and purpose. We need to raise monies to meet the needs of our aging church plant and to fuel ministry for our future. We have set an ambitious goal of $3,000,000. We are happy to announce that one family of this parish has made a one million dollar pledge for the building of a Youth and Family Life Center. We are also looking for the funds to buy the Masonic Lodge with the possibility to build an Education and Community Outreach Center there. We have great vision for this property, but will need the help of this great parish Family to accomplish this. Our Rector and our Vestry will be coming to us with opportunities to join this ambitious goal. Much like eating a large meal, we will do so one bite at a time. I hope you will be considering what you can do to fuel the wonderful ministries of this special parish and to help to fit this Grand Lady of a building for her future. Your brother in Christ, Paul A Message from your Junior Warden As your new junior warden, it is my hope that everyone had a blessed Easter and is enjoying this fabulous weather. During my third year on vestry, I am thrilled to be serving St. Paul's in this role. My primary role as junior warden is to chair the property management committee and work closely with John Phillips in overseeing issues involving the buildings and grounds. On that note, there are a few projects I'd like to bring to your attention. First of all, the long awaited replacement of the church roof should be commencing shortly after Easter- a big thank you to Gene Young for all his hard work and determination to see this through. Also, we cannot thank the Guild of St. Catherine and the Guild of St. Margaret s enough for their commitment to funding the face-lift for both bathrooms in the Wardens' Room and Acolyte Vesting Room. Lastly, during the week of spring break, we will have some tree professionals here to perform some much needed pruning to the beautiful trees we have on our grounds. Special thanks to all of you that donated toward this much needed project. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, and be on the lookout for some information on upcoming parish workdays this spring! Mickey Quinlan, Junior Warden 3

From the Rector continued... We need to have a balance of both in our message. We need to be Good Friday/Easter people. With this event we experience redemption, forgiveness and are offered the opportunity of repentance. We have the chance to confess and start over again in God s grace. So I shall endeavor to fulfill my Lenten discipline during the Easter season. (It is what I should be doing year round anyway.) That is also something we need to realize about Lenten disciplines. They are intended to be a push start for a discipline in our everyday lives. I hope you are going to enjoy this Easter tide. With all the alleluias it deserves. Alleluia that our God is a forgiving God. Alleluia that our God loves us enough to put up with us. Alleluia that our God is a God of hope in eternal life. Your brother in Christ, Paul Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. joke of the week A minister was walking to church one morning when he passed one of his members working in his garden. "Can't you hear those bells calling you to church?" asked the minister. "Eh, what's that?" said the member. "Can't you hear those bells calling you to church?" "I'm afraid you'll have to speak a little louder!" said the member. "CAN'T YOU HEAR THOSE BELLS CALLING YOU TO CHURCH?!" shouted the minister. "I'm sorry," said the member, "I can't hear you because of those darned BELLS!" For Sunday, April 19th, the flowers on the altar are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Aubrey Orr, Edith, T.L. Brooks, & Wayne Brooks by Linda and Gary Brooks. 6 EYC Episcopal Youth for Christ If you ask me, the waiters and waitresses at the Seder meal were phenomenal! The youth were focused and ready at a moments notice to help serve others. Not only was this a service opportunity, it was a learning opportunity. The youth dug deep into the meaning of the Seder meal and came out knowing more about the body and blood of Jesus Christ. I think we all did! During this Holy Week, the Holy Spirit truly has moved within the young people in this church! The youth conducted the Stations of the Cross and you could feel the weight of the cross, the pain in the Lord s hands, and the gravity of what He did for us all. The youth gets it. They were in the valley with Jesus and now they will rejoice with Him on the mountain top! 1Timothy 4:12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Wednesday, 4/8/15: Dry run for Box shelter for Sleep out 4 Independence Saturday, 4/11/15: Sleep out 4 Independence - Be at 2pm Sunday, 4/12/15 NO EYC Wednesday, 4/15/15: Wonderful Wednesday! Speaker: Julie Hartley, Fasting Sunday, 4/19/15: AirU 12pm-3:30pm 6 The Seder 1. What did you do for a living? I retired from teaching of 24 years plus. 2. When did you join St. Paul s? I joined St. Paul s in However, I left for two years and then returned back. 3. What is your favorite Ministry? The Altar Guild of St. Paul s, The Guild of St. Margaret s and working in the Gift Shop. 4. What is something that people may not know about you? I use to play the violin and I was a member of the Bismarck Symphony in Bismarck, ND. 7 The St. Paul s Day School celebrated Easter with a bunny, a parade, and a musical performance. The children also brought their most unique, homemade Easter hats to make it more fun! We are so proud of everyone involved and who make St. Paul s Day School a day to day success.
