1 Eastertide 2017 Alleluia, Christ is Risen! My dear family in Christ, I write to you with a most grateful heart. On Sunday, April 23rd, I announced my plan to retire as your rector, effective at the end of this year. Gloria and I feel so very blessed to have shared the ministry of Christ Church with you for these many years and with your blessing, we ll have about eight more months of it! On a personal note, I very much look forward to spending more time with Gloria in Her service as South Dakota s Secretary of Human Services is based in Pierre, but she travels home most weekends and we find her helping at Christ Church most every Sunday. I may be a bit biased, but I know our congregation has been richly blessed by her commitment and ministry. Beginning in January, I will take some turns commuting to Pierre. We have a small apartment there and I m going to be the head cook (I m not a chef, but I can cook pretty much. Our home is Yankton and when we are both retired, we very much look forward to our next chapter and we are counting on abiding friendships! On Saturday, the 22nd we had, in the words of Bishop John Tarrant, a very positive vestry retreat. Bishop John will be meeting with our vestry on May 15th for the purpose of assisting the congregation as you explore your options for future ministry. He is ready to become more familiar and aware of the good people and the resources (the blessings!) that Christ Church offers for sustainable ministry. I will continue to serve as your priest and rector these next months, however, planning for the next chapter that begins in 2018, will be led by your vestry. What doesn t change, I pray, are those abiding friendships that Gloria and I have with each of you and all of us together. We thank you with all our heart! In Christ s Easter life and love,

2 United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through United Thank Offering, men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. United Thank Offering is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and in invited Provinces of the Anglican Communion in the developing world. Please pick up your blue box and place you spare change for the United Thank Offering. Your offering will be picked up on Sunday, May 7th.

3 The Newspaper of the Mother Church of the Dakotas Hello From The Eide Family Congratulations Stetson Heirigs, grandson of Jane and Max Hawk, is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this month with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Distinction. Stetson is the son of Jenny and Rick Heirigs, Aberdeen. We congratulate him on a wonderful accomplishment! This picture of the Eide family was taken from the Lake District of Chile. They now make their home in Uruguay and France.

6 May 2015 A Mother loves right from the start. She holds her baby close to her heart. The bond that grows will never falter. Her love is so strong it will never alter. A Mother gives never ending Love. She never feels that she has given enough. For you she will always do her best. Constantly working, there s no time to rest. A Mother is there when things go wrong. A hug and a kiss to help us along. Always there when we need her near. Gently wipes our eyes when we shed a tear. So on this day shower your Mother with Love. Gifts and presents are nice but that is not enough. Give your Mother a day to have some peace of mind. Be gentle, be good, be helpful, be kind. Happy Mothers Day.
