Sent to inform members and friends about the Mission and ministry of our Lord s Church TRIANGLE Pastor Bergelin s Message Dear Members and Friends of Trinity, The weather is finally warming up and it feels good. Warmth always feels good. Being warm often makes one feel cozy and comfortable. That is the way the word of God should make every one of us feel. To be sure there is nothing warm and cozy about our sin. It is chilling and cold when we see what sin does to us and to our world. Problems, troubles, sickness, and death itself are all result of sin. We can all talk about the sins of others and how horrible they are, and indeed they may be, but the truth is that none in this world commit greater sins than each of us. We must all stand alongside the Apostle Paul and declare with him that we too are the chief, the worst of sinners. Now don't despair, rather take heart, here is where the warmth comes in. Our Lord loves us sinful people. He loved us so much that He went to the cross and died for us. We are forgiven. Day in and day out the Lord is present with His love and forgiveness. Doesn't that warm you up to know that you are so undeservedly loved? As the hymn writer put it, "Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling." There will be many nice warm days ahead over the next months here in Wisconsin. Don't waste them. And when I say "don't waste them," I mean don't let a single one of them go by without thinking about the warmth of God's love and forgiveness that surrounds you every day no matter what the outside temperature reads. 2 Vicar Koester s Message Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Howards Grove, We are already coming up to the month of May. May is a beautiful time of year. Everything seems to come alive again and people seem to be happier than they were just a couple weeks before. For students, the end of May or maybe early June means the end of the school year. They can put away the text books, the notebooks, and the pencils, so they can focus on the things they want to be doing and have been looking forward to doing all year. They will miss their friends who they won t see for a few months, but generally there is a lot of excitement about taking a break. Even though these kids will go back to school, eventually all formal education comes to an end. We put on our caps and gowns and walk across the stage so we can go out into the real world. However, there is a certain type of learning that should never stop no matter how old we are or how much we think we know. Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Learning about the word of God doesn t just end with Sunday school or after is done. Each day, Christians need to be learning about what God has revealed to us in the pages of scripture. Many times we will find something that we didn t know about or something we hadn t thought about in a particular way. Other times we will simply need to be reminded about something or even corrected as Paul tells Timothy. When we search the scriptures, we find that there is not a problem that has not been dealt with or a situation that God has not brought people through. Most importantly, we find that God has been working throughout the entirety of human history to save those who have been lost. Jesus is the remedy to the curse of sin and all of God s word testifies to it. The other benefit of being in the Word is that it strengthens our faith. Just like a kid learning their multiplication tables, repetition and a constant churning of God s Word in our minds cements and frames it. If kids get rusty after 3 months of summer vacation, just imagine how much our faith starts to deteriorate if we aren t ever in God s word. How can we expect to honor our Savior s call to spread the Gospel if we ourselves don t know what we are talking about? On the other hand, those who are in the word are well-prepared to show the fruits of their faith by serving their neighbor every day. Let the Lord always grant to us a zeal for His Word. Elder s Corner What does the Bible tell us about FORGIVENESS? Forgiveness is a huge subject and certainly one in which the Bible is not silent. In the Bible we can read about our amazing and loving Heavenly Father who forgives us all our trespasses. Isaiah 55:7 talks about forgiveness God has for us humans. Luke 17:3 talks about forgiveness between fellow man, and Ephesians 1:7 talks about the ultimate forgiveness Jesus Christ dying on the cross. It is because of God s great mercy and grace that rescues us the believer from the dominion of darkness that began way back in the garden. Jesus extends to us a loving invitation for forgiveness of our sins which is only possible through His shed blood. Christ gave His life so that we may live. We are forgiven because Christ was forsaken.

3 Preschool HAPPY SPRING??? Our April snow didn t stop the children from having fun! All aboard the Polar Express. FOOD BAKE DRIVE SALE The youth group is making plans to attend the National LCMS Youth Gathering in Minneapolis next July, so we are organizing some fundraisers to help offset the cost for our youth to attend. Our first fundraiser is a bake sale on Sunday, May 6 th and we need your help! We are asking for volunteers from the entire congregation to bake and donate an item (cookies, pies, cupcakes, bread, bars, or any other tasty treat) and bring it to church before early or late service on May 6 th. The youth will have a bake stand setup in the church narthex and will collect a free will offering to be used for National Youth Gathering expenses. A signup sheet is in the narthex for anyone willing to donate a baked good. If you are not able to donate, please put this date on your calendars for picking up some delicious treats after service and making a donation to the youth group. THERE IS ALSO a sign-up sheet for the Youth group to work the bake sale. We need two youth following early service and two following late service to help. Thank you! FOOD BANK OPPORTUNITY We are having a food bank volunteer opportunity for our youth on Saturday May 19th from 10am-noon. We will be sorting and packing up food for distribution to local pantries. This will be held at the Sheboygan County Food Bank. Pizza will be served afterward! There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex. There is a food bank bin in the narthex. The Youth Group will be collecting food for their outing to the food bank. THANK YOU Thank you to all the adults and the outstanding amount of youth that helped and made the spaghetti supper run smoothly. Thank you also to our congregation members who made a variety of baked goods. Also, special thanks to the Goedeke Family for their donation of applesauce again this year. The Spaghetti Supper Committee. FUNERAL HOME TOUR On Wednesday May 16th, our 8th graders will be given a tour of the Zimmer Westview Funeral Home. Please meet at the Funeral Home at 4:30pm. Anyone from our Congregation is welcome to attend.

4 Trinity News Jonathon Rusche Meet our 20th Vicar. Jonathon Rusche is from Evansville Indiana. Jonathon will begin his Vicarage here at Trinity in August. will take place on Sunday, May 6th at the 10:30am Worship Service. This years Confirmands are: Karly Mycal Grunewald, Michael Jospeh Horness, Brayden Dennis Peter, Austin Eric Stelter. We welcome Lisa Seefeldt into membership by w ay of Adult. We are happy to have Lisa as part of our family here at Trinity and we look forward to our continual growing in faith together. MAY SPECIAL OFFERING: Our special offering for May is the Tabitha Fund: The Tabitha Fund is for those in need from our Congregation and Friends of Trinity who are in need outside of our Congregation. MYSTERY TRIP We can t tell you where we are going, but we can tell you that you will have a fantastic time. Join us on a mystery trip September 9th-12th. Bring casual clothes, jeans, khakis, or whatever you are comfortable in. We will leave following the late worship service on Sunday, September 9th and return on Wednesday evening, September 12th. CHRISTIAN FUNERAL A Christian Funeral was conducted at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Creation Care Center on Friday April 6th, 2018, for James Grunewald, husband of Carolyn Grunewald. Pastor Bergelin officiated. May God give strength and comfort to the Grunewald Family. CHRISTIAN FUNERAL A Christian Funeral for Wayne Goedeke was held Sunday April 22nd, 2018 at Zimmer Westview Funeral & Crematory Care Center. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL REGISTRATION You are now able to register your children for Vacation Bible School online at Click on the Vacation Bible School link located on our home page. 5 Lutheran High School News The weather hit hard on Friday, April 13 during the LHS service day. It rained, hailed, and snowed! But all students were safe and conquered the elements to get as much done outdoors as they could at the outdoor locations of Bookworm Gardens, Kohler Andrae State Park, and the Christopher Farm under the conditions. There were sixteen groups total, and students and faculty members worked at many indoor locations including Bethlehem, Immanuel, Trinity, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Churches, Pine Haven and Rocky Knoll facilities, Boys & Girls Club, and RAYS/Lutheran Social Services. Activities included washing windows, cleaning and dusting, and mopping floors, and organizing storage areas. Two groups helped out at the Neat Repeats Thrift Store, and two groups set up for the LHS Dinner Auction, which held its Preview Night that evening. Service Day is a great opportunity for students to give back to the community. Sheboygan Lutheran is thankful to the many organizations willing to work hand-in-hand with them, as the day also serves as a growth experience for the students involved. In His service, Laura Adameak, Guidance Counselor Lutheran High Student Leaders of the Month have been chosen based on their service, behavior, leadership, attitude, and academic achievements. 6 Christian Women s Fellowship Our April meeting was called to order by Angie Schorer. Lucy offered the opening devotion entitled A glimpse of Heaven. The mission grant story featured the NOLA project in new Orleans. Mites were collected. Deede led us in the Federwitz prayer. Faith promise offerings were received. The Secretary's report was approved as read. We answered roll call with a favorite hymn of ours. Assignments were handed out for the Federwitz prayer and letter and also the prayer calendar. The treasurer s report was read with a balance of $ The free will offering was taken. Committee reports were heard. Fellowship: Cards sent Shelley donated some cards for our use. Service: Banners changed. Kathy Franz w ill keep an eye open for decorations as she volunteers at Neat-Repeats. Education: Hymn sing tonight. Old Business: 2018 SW D LW ML Convention, June 22, 23 at Milwaukee Marriott in Waukesha. Thanks to Shelley the basket for the LHS Auction was filled with a gift card and Olivu products. Kathy Franz will chair the committee for the 4 confirmation bookmarks. The LWML SWD Fall Retreat is on September at Hilton Garden in Oshkosh with speakers Jan Struck and Jonathan and Carrie Federwitz. There is a Young Women in Mission Painting activity on July 28 and August 11 & 18. New Business: Spaghetti Supper help needed April 22 to serve noodles. Mary Lou will pant flowers in the carport area. Salad supper for May Meeting Muffin tins needed. Pray they would always stay faithful to the Lord. 19. Thank the Lord for the strength He gives you for doing your daily tasks. 20. Attend church today as a family. 21. Pray for the youth of our congregation. 22. Pray for all those who have birthdays this month. 23. Pray for our Government that all decisions are God pleasing. 24. Pray for our Preschool and the little ones that will graduate tonight. 25. Thank the Lord for giving you another day of life. 26. Continue to pray for all the blessings here at Trinity. 27. Always put your trust in the Lord. 28. Thank the Lord for all who are fighting or have fought for our Country. 29. Pray for everyone that has a birthday this month. 30. Do something special for someone today. 31. Tell your children you love them and that Jesus loves them also.
