OLD TESTAMENT: Ezekiel 2:1-5 1 And he said to me, Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you. 2 And as he spoke to me, the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. 3 And he said to me, Son of man, I send you to the people of Israel, to nations of rebels, who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day. 4 The descendants also are impudent and stubborn: I send you to them, and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD. 5 And whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house) they will know that a prophet has been among them. 4 EPISTLE: 2 Corinthians 12: I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3 And I know that this man was caught up into paradise whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows 4 and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter. 5 On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses 6 though if I should wish to boast, I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; but I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me. 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. HOLY GOSPEL: Mark 6:1-13 This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark the 6th chapter beginning at verse 1. Glory to you, O Lord. 1 He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed Him. 2 And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they took offense at him. 4 And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own house hold. 5 And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching. 7 And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8 He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff no bread, no bag, no money in their belts 9 but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. 10 And he said to them, Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. 11 And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them. 12 So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them. 6 The Trinity Messenger - July 5 & 8, 2018 VOTERS MEETING There is a voters meeting Sunday, July 22nd, following the worship service. THANK YOU Thank you to Paulette Krueger for playing the organ for us this week. FAREWELL POTLUCK There will be a farewell potluck on Sunday, July 22nd, for Vicar Koester after the voters meeting. We hope you will join us. Following the potluck, we will be helping Vicar load up his vehicle. MORNING MEDITATIONS Morning Meditations is a devotion by area LCMS Pastors each morning, Monday through Friday, on WHBL-1330AM at 7:26am and at 10:45am. Meditations for the week of July 9-13, 2018 are given by Vicar Koester. You may also listen to Morning Meditations at SCRIP Scrip is an easy fundraiser while you shop. When you purchase a scrip card here at Trinity, we get a percentage of each card sold. Scrip is simple to use. Scrip are gift cards from almost any store you shop at. Thank you to all of our current customers. DEFIBRILLATOR Our church has purchased a defibrillator. The defibrillator is located by the ushers table. Because of the ease of the automated directions, anyone is able to use the unit if an emergency arises. Scrip funds paid $1, for the defibrillator. Thank you to our scrip customers. HOSPITAL CALLS If you are in the hospital, please call the church office or Pastor Bergelin. The hospitals do not always call us even if you request it. JULY SPECIAL OFFERING The July special offering will be for the St. Mark s Food Pantry. This agency provides food to Sheboygan County area recipients in need. They are open the first and third Friday of each month from 9:30-11:00am. St. Mark s is located in Sheboygan at 1019 N. 7th St. PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION If you are planning on sending your child to our preschool this fall, please get your registration in soon. Mrs. Heinemann, our preschool teacher, would like to order supplies. Brochures are on the table in the narthex and also online. FRUITS AND VEGETABLES If you have an abundance of fruits and vegetables that you would like to share, there is a box in the narthex. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Please put your information in the secretary s mailbox. You may also send an to secretary@trinityhowardsgrove.org. OBERAMMERGAU PASSION PLAY AND BEST OF THE HOLY LAND Rev. Tim Fraker, husband of Darci Bergelin Fraker of Trinity Lutheran Church in Weatherford, Texas is taking a trip to the Holy Land and the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, June of 2020, and has invited our congregation to join them. The first part of the trip is spent in the Holy Land where we will walk through the Garden of Gethsemane, sail on the Sea of Galilee, journey to Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and so much more. The last week of the trip we fly to Munich and are transferred to Alpine Village. We will tour many places, but the main attraction is the Passion play. The Passion Play is a reenactment of the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ and is performed every 10 years. Performers were born in Oberammergau or have lived there for at least 20 years. Over 2000 Oberammergau villagers will participate in the 2020 Passion Play. The trip is June 15-June 27, There are brochures located on the table in the narthex describing the entire trip.
