They have been two years filled with ups and downs in my own life, and continual encouragement and koinonia within our congregation. While koinonia is actually a Biblical Greek word, Merriam-Webster defines it as: intimate spiritual communion and participative sharing in a common religious commitment and spiritual community. ( retrieved 6/29/17) There has been such a sense of fellowship and mutual love and respect among us in worship, meetings, meals, study groups, or whenever we gather, that koinonia just fits! It doesn t work to come to church and try to worship all alone; the Spirit of God is moving among us! To truly worship, each of us must connect not only with God but also with each other. As we have grown in our mutual fellowship and Godly love for each other, so God continues to call us to continued growth. Our church s leadership and I believe that the time is right for us to pray persistently to God for our congregation to breakthrough our current ministries into new places. A couple of weeks ago, I preached on Luke 11:5-13 and 18:1-8, both stories in which Jesus is teaching his disciples the importance of praying persistently, assuring them that God will faithfully answer. Based on these passages and God s leading, I would like to invite you to persistently pray for our congregation to breakthrough to wherever God might want to lead us. Enclosed in this newsletter, you will find a breakthrough prayer card. On one side of the card you will find these instructions: Please pray daily at 4:16 pm for our church to breakthrough wherever we are comfortable and 1

Imagine our whole congregation stopping whatever we are doing at the same time, 4:16pm, every day to pray for our church! Carry the card with you and join us in praying the prayer that is written on it: Abundant God, we are bursting with anticipation to see the new that you have in store for Faith Church and our community. Thunder forth your will for fresh possibilities! You say in your word, See I am about to do something new. It begins now! Don t you see it? (Is. 43:19) Lord, help us to see clearly the next steps on your path. Amen. God is and will do amazing things at Faith UMC! Won t you join us in persistent prayer and worship? Blessings, Joy Dear Faith family, Thank you so much for the many cards and other expressions of sympathy in the passing of my father. Losing Mom and Dad within 16 months of each other has been quite a challenge, particularly with squeezing in my (ex-) husband leaving in between. My parents taught me to lean on my faith and church family during difficult times. Thank you just for being the wonderful people you are. May God continue to bless us as we move forward together. 4 United Methodist Women Sock Away $$ for Christmas The items to donate to the First UMC shelter this month are trash bags and sunscreen. The UMW Summer Picnic will be held at noon on Saturday, July 15th. 4 Let us walk in the light of the LORD Isaiah 2:5 Eventide Circle The ladies of Eventide Circle will not hold a meeting in the month of July. God is present in the company of the righteous Psalm 14:5 New Hope Circle The New Hope Circle will meet at 6:30 PM on Sunday, July 9. Pastor Joy Wigal will host. The New Hope Circle is sponsoring a Sock Away $$ for Christmas fundraiser at Faith United Methodist Church. Every year the congregation has been very generous with collecting coins and loose change for our small Christmas present boxes. This year we are giving you something different! A Christmas sock! We hope you will be cheerful givers* again as we distribute the socks the first Sunday in July to help raise funds for the Salvation Army Christmas food baskets. As we did last year, we will be giving the money collected directly to the Salvation Army (instead of buying the food ourselves). The Salvation Army has the ability to purchase the most needed food from the Food Bank. This is more cost effective in terms of purchasing the food at a price that will serve more families in need. Thank you in advance for helping this much needed United Methodist Women mission project. Start saving your coins! This fundraiser will last the whole month of July. We will start collecting the socks starting July 30th. *If you would like this donation to be reflected on your Giving Statement, please sign the label attached to your sock. It is by grace you have been saved, through faith Ephesians 2:8 9
