3 St. Martin s Missionary Commissioning Sunday, December 9 11:15 a.m. The Church St. Martin s will be commissioning our own missionary, Tom Gruen and his family, during the morning worship service. Tom, his wife Kelsey and their two boys, Henry and Peter, will be sharing the gospel and ministering to the underserved children of Uganda, Africa. 8 YEAR-END CONTRIBUTIONS The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires that, in order to be tax deductible for 2018, cash, check or credit card contributions to St. Martin s Episcopal Church must be received by the Church or postmarked by the United States Postal Service no later than Monday, December 31. This includes payment of your 2018 pledge, prepayment of your 2019 pledge and payment of your Building for the Ages pledge. The Finance staff is required to check the post office cancellation dates on all receipts in early January to ensure our legal compliance to this rule. Kids Meals provides and distributes nutritious lunches to hungry preschool children throughout Houston. Lord of the Streets (LOTS) Tuesday Thursday, December a.m. noon 3401 Fannin LOTS is a church community that welcomes, restores and rebuilds lives through relationshipfocused ministries with the homeless and formerly homeless. Volunteer opportunities include clothing center, mail clerks and assessment. Minimum age to volunteer without parental/guardian supervision is 18. Worship with the Homeless at Church in the Field Thursday, December 20 6:30 p.m., Carpool departure 7:30 p.m., Worship service 2800 St. Charles Street We will serve a meal, serve as prayer partners and provide praise music for the service. An Overview of Depression: Clinical vs. Situational and Treatment Options Wednesday, January 9 Noon 1 p.m. Depression is an illness that has wide-reaching implications for cost, lost productivity and impact on overall physical health. This talk will cover the prevalence, comorbidities, diagnosis and treatment of depression. The societal impact and barriers to treatment also will be discussed. Join us to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition (particularly the MIND Diet!), exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement. Navigating the Teenage Brain Wednesday, January 30 6:30 7:30 p.m. Have you ever wondered why teens make the decisions they do? This presentation will outline how brain development and stress play a major role in the behaviors we see in our children as they grow and develop. Parents will leave with a clear understanding of their child's development and what they can do to foster healthy growth. Registration is required.
