3 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Today we keep festival of your holy city, the heavenly Jerusalem our mother. Around your throne the saints, our brothers and sisters, sing your praise forever. -Preface for All Saints All Saints and All Souls begin our November-long remembrance of the dead. During this time of year, the earth itself speaks of death. Woods and fields give testimony. Frosted gardens provide evidence. Even the geese sing the music of death high over our heads. Our Catholic ancestors carved Jack-o-lanterns and lit the way for souls heavenward. They dressed themselves and their homes with spooky characters and images to laugh away the fear of death. The Lord Jesus had trampled down death by His own death trampled it like a rotting pumpkin! ALL SAINTS DAY (NOVEMBER 1) IS A HOLYDAY OF OBLIGATION October 31 4:30PM Vigil Mass November 1 8:30AM Mass 7:00PM Mass Our 4:30pm Saturday Vigil Mass on November 3 especially remembers those parishioners buried from the Church of Saint Clare in the last year. A candle burns at that Mass for each parishioner commended to the Lord in Your All Souls Day intentions will be collectively remembered on November 2 at 8:30am Mass as well as at Masses throughout the year. An envelope was included in your last monthly mailing. Electronic givers? You may include family names and offering in a plain envelope marked All Souls Day. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
4 Annual Pumpkin Sale After each Mass October 27/28 Donut Sale/Box of Joy Drive The American Heritage Girls will be having their annual Donut Sale/Box of Joy Drive on the weekend of November 3 and 4. Last year the Troop sent out over 35 Boxes of Joy to Catholic Outreach. For more information about the Boxes of Joy, please go to: crosscatholic.org/boxofjoy. With your support, we have reached 25.7% of our goal with $257 collected. A Huge Thank You to all involved in setting up, volunteering, participating, and cleaning up the CCA Fall Fest. We had over 80% of our PreK-5th grade students participate and an abundant number of our 6th-8th grade students volunteer, including the CCA Student Council! What a great event to bring our school and local community together. Student Council had a phenomenal haunted house. Aftercare students and teachers did a great job setting up the hallways and we had LOTS of parent helpers! Students got to meet the police and fire department while trunk-or-treating followed by a great lunch and many FUN math activities! Don t forget to sign up for our 2018 Mission: Possible Auction. Join us on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. This year s auction features live entertainment from The Game Show Guyz. 5 On this Priesthood Sunday In appreciation for our priests for their life of love and service to the Family of God Rev. Stanley Klasinski Rev. James Cosgrove The Marian Movement of Priests Cenacle offers our continued prayers and sacrifices for your holy priesthood. PRAYER FOR PRIESTS O my Jesus, I beg you on behalf of the whole Church: grant it love and the light of your Spirit and give power to the words of priests so hardened hearts might be brought to repentance and return to you, O Lord. Lord, give us holy priests; you yourself maintain them in holiness. O Divine and great High Priest may the power of your mercy accompany them everywhere and protect them from the devil s traps and snares which are continually being set for the souls of priests. May the power of your mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for you can do all things. Amen. St. Faustina The Marian Movement of Priests Cenacle meets each Tuesday in Church after Mass to pray for priests, sisters, deacons, vocations and for the intentions of the group. All are welcome. Important Message for Parents and Guardians: Religious education curriculum here at Saint Clare includes a program titled Called to Protect, a multimedia training program created by Praesidium, a national leader in risk management. This program was developed to enhance the ongoing efforts for the Catholic Church to provide training for adults and children in matters of personal safety, abuse prevention and the creation of safe environments for children. The Diocese of Cleveland adopted this program to remain in compliance with the national charter for the protection of children and youth. We can t be with our children at all times, but we can learn ways to help keep them safe and to identify potentially hazardous situations, even when we re not there. To accomplish this, we invite you to join us for the Parent Education Session to be held on Saturday, November 3, 9:00-10:00 a.m., in Room 27 off the gym. At this program you will learn:. Facts and myths about child sexual abuse. Actions to take when you notice the warning signs. How offenders gain access to children. Learn how the program for youth is implemented. Warning signs to look for in children or adults in our Sunday School (K) and PSR Program (1-8) Called to Protect is the second generation of safety. It institutionalizes the procedures and makes safety a part of everyday life to our families and children.
