1 Thursdays at 6:00pm w/communion Sundays at 8:00am & 10:30am 9:15am Sundays - Family for all ages NOVEMBER 2018 OUR SAVIOR S MESSENGER No. 10 Telephone oslcsheboygan@gmail.com THANKSGIVING SERVICE: Dear Saints of Our Savior s: Remember what Jesus said to his disciples when he received word that his friend Lazarus was first sick and then later had died? He said, It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it. Several days later, on Palm Sunday, Jesus said, The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. The glory of Jesus is that in the same way Lazarus died and was made alive again, so Jesus would die and rise again. And in so doing, as Jesus said, he will draw all people to himself. Because of Christ s blessings to us, it is fitting that we annually observe a day of thanksgiving. This is certainly in accord with the Bible s directive to give thanks unto the Lord. (Psalm 118:1) In conformity with this scriptural command, we will hold Thanksgiving service on: November 22 nd - Thanksgiving Eve - 6:00pm This service is an opportunity to gather your family together to worship and thank the Lord who gave us all good things. There will be no service on Thanksgiving Day. Jesus has died, but now is alive. You have heard the good news. He promises eternal life to all who believe what he did and what he promises. What he did was win salvation for the world. What he promises is to save those who believe in him. What comfort it is to know Jesus work of salvation is complete. What joy it is to know that he is still with us to keep us saved, as close to us as his Word and the visible Word of his Sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion. He dwells in us through words, water, wine, and wheat so that we might truly live now and forevermore. The Lord be with you! + Pr. Schulz
2 2 Rummage Sale, 2018 Thank you to all you helped with the rummage sale. Without you, it could not have been done! Thanks for the generous contributions from members and to your friends and neighbors who also made donations. At this point, we have netted over $7200 from the rummage, bake sale, and brat fry. We are trying to sell some items on various internet sites and outlets hoping to increase that total. The Elders and Church Council will be deciding what the best use will be for the funds. Thank you again! Mike Feudner and Clara Murphy Youth Yankee Candle Sale The youth attending the 2019 LCMS National Youth Gathering this summer in Minneapolis are selling Yankee Candles to help defray the cost of the trip. 3 3 MEMBERSHIP CHANGES PARISH NURSE NEWS Dear Friends in Christ, Thanksgiving blessings. Being mindful and thankful can alleviate stress in our lives. Stress can cause harmful health risks, including cardiovascular, stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes among a few problems. It may also contribute to abusing substances in an effort to forget our stress. Let s all take time to be thankful on a daily basis. Start with the faith God has given you, our pastor and our beautiful church. Then go to the people that care for our church: custodial and maintenance, yard workers, musicians, elders, ushers, and altar guild. All those who worked to have another successful rummage sale, the fryers who cook good food from a good butcher shop and all the people behind the scene who worked on a daily basis. Then move onto all God has provided in your daily life: shelter, clothing, food and things. While you thank God, ask Him to move you to help those who are in need. We can then be thankful we live in the beautiful state of Wisconsin where we seldom have hurricanes, earthquakes, wild fires, etc. etc. etc. We are truly blessed. As you can see, the list can go on and on. Those are just a few to get you started. I have a list a mile long and I m sure you all do, too. God s peace and blessings to all. Prayerfully submitted, Deb Kuitert Blood Pressure Screening, Sunday, November 4. Office Hours Thursdays No office hours on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23.
