1 What is M P D? In "What Is MPD" Part 1 entitled "The Myth of MPD" I shared an unusual experience of casting a demon out of a woman who tried to convince me it would be impossible for me to do so as it was not a demon but a Splinter Personality of the woman. Exposing the Deception I ignored its lie and cast it out in the same way I cast out any other demon; by quoting scripture and commanding the demon to leave until it eventually stopped resisting and obeyed my command. In this case after about twenty minutes the demon came out with the woman choking and coughing for about three minutes and then looking at me with a smile on her face and saying, "It's gone." I chose this particular exorcism from a wide assortment of those I have performed involving Alters because during the dialogue I was able to force this so-called Alter Personality to expose its true identity as a demon rather than a splinter of the woman's personality. If you missed reading Part 1, "The Myth of MPD" I would suggest you read it as well. In Part two we will trace this theory of man back to its roots to discover how Satan has used the godless theory of Materialism to bring this about. 1

2 The Roots of M.P.D. Part 2 " They have rejected the Word of the Lord: So what wisdom do they have." Jer.8:9 "To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word. It is because there is no light (enlightenment) in them." Isa. 8:20 Theories of Man The above scriptures declare when theories of man contradict truths found in the Word of God. It is because they are foolish theories devoid of wisdom or enlightenment. Many truths discovered by mankind are accurate and bless and benefit mankind. Others refute and contradict God's word. The medical community has acquired much knowledge in the field of medicine for understanding the body and soul of man, greatly benefiting humanity. For those discoveries we are grateful. Others such as Multiple Personality Disorder contradict God's Word and the fruit of that error imprisons many wounded individuals in a dark labyrinth of confusion and despair from which they may never escape. Multiple Personality Disorder We will now examine the medical condition referred to as Multiple Personality Disorder and expose it as a theory of man that contradicts the Word of God. Dissociative Identity Disorder The American Psychiatric Association changed the name to Dissociative Personality Disorder in Later in our study we will define the term and explain the reason for the name change. Both names are still used today, to describe the psychological condition in which two or more personalities live in one person. There are other terms used to refer to this condition including 2

3 multiplicity, split personality, splinter personality, alternate personality and alter. Integration The prescribed psychiatric method for correcting this condition is referred to as Integration or 'integrating the selves. The name is self explanatory. The Therapist attempts to merge these multiple persons or personalities into one. Many Christian Therapists and Deliverance Ministers have accepted this secular theory which is nothing more than a cunning deception. This has put many of God s people on a worthless treadmill of therapy that can never heal their condition and has deprived them of the freedom available through the ministry of deliverance from evil spirits. Those ministries which have embraced these secular theories have attempted to prove it is scriptural citing such passages as Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18 which says, "He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted" as their biblical foundation. Those ministries seem to overlook the fact that Jesus never merged alter personalities but He did cast out demons everywhere He ministered. Exposing Deception Here at T.D.S. Ministries we strive to maintain unity in the body of Christ and have no desire to be divisive or critical of other ministries, however I believe this deception must be exposed to protect God s people from unnecessary demonic torment. In this teaching we will trace this satanic deception of Multiple Personality Disorder back to its godless roots planted by the atheistic French philosophers of the Enlightenment. The Protestant Reformation Our search begins in 1510 A.D. when a young German Catholic monk named Martin Luther made a pilgrimage to Rome. He was shocked by the corruption he witnessed among the clergy. His concern prompted him to reexamine the doctrines and practices of the Roman Catholic Church he had devoted his life too. 3

4 Seven years later, on October 31, 1517, Luther, now a doctor of theology at Wittenberg, Germany, wrote to his bishop, Albert of Mainz, protesting the sale of indulgences. He enclosed in his letter a copy of his "Disputation of Martin Luther on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences." Although many other Christian reformers were active even before Martin Luther, the year 1517 A.D. is generally recognized as the beginning of the movement known as The Protestant Reformation. The Ninety-Five Thesis This Theses known as, The Ninety-Five Theses challenged most of the doctrines and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Luther s main intent was to expose the practice of selling indulgences for the forgiveness of sins for both the living and the dead. He renounced this doctrine that one could buy their salvation, as works of man. He declared salvation was through faith in Christ alone. He based this on Ephesians 2:8-9, which says, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godnot by works lest any man should boast. His theses also challenged many of the other doctrines and practices including the infallibility of the Pope, purgatory, intercessory prayer to Mary and the saints, the celibacy of the priesthood and many of the sacraments. Luther Excommunicated Luther was tried as a heretic and excommunicated from the Catholic Church in 1521 and the Protestant Reformation resulted. He began to write and teach the Bible in the German language thus opening for the first time in a thousand years God s Word to the common people. His teachings were circulated widely among the masses and his translation of the Bible from Latin to German was published in Light Out of Darkness The result was God s Word began to shine the light of truth and knowledge into the darkened minds of the western world. 4

5 2 Corinthians 4:2 states, It is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness... Psalm 119:130 says, The entrance of Your Word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 36:9 states, In Your light we see light. And Psalms 119:105 says, Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Satan, working through the Catholic Church, had extinguished the lamp of God s Word by translating it exclusively into Latin which is a dead and forgotten language to all but the scholar. In so doing he had plunged the western world into a stupor of spiritual blindness and intellectual ignorance. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says, Whose minds the god of this age has blinded So, they cannot see the glorious light of the gospel. God s Word is not only spiritual truth and light but intellectual knowledge and understanding as well. Proverbs 2:6 says, For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. The Dark Ages When God's Word, which was given to the Church in Greek, the common language of the masses was concealed by translating it into Latin, a dead language known only to the scholar, the Lamp of Truth was taken from mankind (approximately 500 A.D.) Knowledge was extinguished as well. 5

6 As soon as the Word of God was given back to the masses, an amazing thing happened. The Western World began to emerge from one thousand years of intellectual darkness referred to as The Dark Ages ( 500 A.D A.D.). With the return of God s Word, knowledge and enlightenment begin to flourish. The Renaissance Florence, Italy is recognized as the birth place of the Renaissance. The word Renaissance is French meaning, new birth or rebirth. It is not surprising that God would choose Italy, the birth place of Catholicism, which extinguished the light of God's Word, plunging the Western World into one thousand years of darkness, as the place where His Light would first shine forth. When the light of God's Word was given back to the Western World, and the knowledge of God and His way of salvation was revealed, every field of knowledge and learning flourished, including literature, science, psychology, philosophy, music, medicine, the arts, politics and industry. The Age of Enlightenment Over the next three centuries the name of this new Age of Knowledge evolved from the Renaissance to be called The Age of Enlightenment or The Age of Reason. From this Age emerged an elite cultural movement of intellectuals in 18th century Europe that sought to elevate and mobilize the power of reason as it were a new god to reform society and advance knowledge. The center of the Enlightenment was France. The atheistic French philosopher Voltaire ( A.D.) who was a notable among the group, in time came to be called the Father of the Enlightenment. The Doctrine of Materialism This group of philosophers resurrected an ancient Greek philosophy called Materialism first espoused by the Greek philosopher Anaxagoras ( 500 B.C. 428 B.C.), then by Democritus ( B.C.) and later, through Epicurus ( B.C.). The theory of Materialism states that matter is the only reality. Simply put Materialism says, If one can t see, hear, taste, touch or smell a thing it does not exist. Nothing exists outside of the material world. This would include God, the angels, Satan and demons. 6

7 Once these atheistic philosophers convinced their contemporaries in other fields of study, into rejecting the spirit realm, those whose field of study was human psychology (the study of the psyche (mind) were forced to find answers to psychological problems in the material world. One of these psychological disorders was where there seemed to be two or more persons living in one human body. There were nearly one hundred cases recorded in the late 1800 s. History of M.P.D The first case recorded was in France in 1885 of Louis Vivet. He was diagnosed to have between two and ten personalities. The term Multiple Personality Disorder was first used to describe his mental state. The following year, 1886, a Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson published a novel, "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". The novel, now famous, depicts a highly respected Doctor Henry Jekyll who takes a drug which causes him to metamorphous into an evil grotesque man who is a murderer. One of the first individuals diagnosed with multiple personalities to be scientifically studied was Clara Norton Fowler. She was observed from Since that time thousands have been diagnosed with this mental malady. Blinded by Materialism Had not those early therapists previously embraced Materialism, thereby rejecting the spirit realm, they would have had a simple solution to them to this mental condition. They would have concluded their patient was suffering from demonic possession just as the demoniac, which Jesus encountered in the tombs on the shores of the Gadarenes (Luke 8:26-33). The solution would have been to cast out the demons and set the person free from the demons manifesting as other personalities. Materialism had blinded them to the truth. Hollywood's Infatuation The interest in the subject of Multiple Personality Disorder waned in the early 1900 s and although the cases continued to multiply little was written on this malady until the 1950 s when Hollywood got interested in the subject. 8 movie, The Three Faces of Eve was released in The title is self explanatory. Then in 1973 the book, Sybil was written of an actual case of Shirley Mason who had sixteen different personalities. In 1976 the movie by the same name was released. This sparked a new interest in the subject and the study of Multiple Personalities began and has continued to the present. Hollywood has continued to keep Multiple Personality Disorder a favorite with the release of "Psycho" directed by Alfred Hitchcock, released in right up until the present with "Primal Fear" in 1996, "The Lord of the Rings" with Gollum and his Alter Sméagol in 2001,, "Secret Window" in 2004, and "Shutter Island" in Truth Restored to the Church During this time the Church, who is suppose to be the Pillar and Ground of Truth (1 Tim. 3:15) had neither answer nor solution to this malady of the mind. But instead, it has been content to refer anyone suffering from this or any other mental condition to the psychiatrist's couch. In the 1950 s God began His restoration of the Five-Fold ministry of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher to the Church. (Ephesians 4:11). God started this restoration with the ministry of the Evangelist to the Church. He raised up ministers like Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, A.A. Allen and Kathryn Kuhlman who began to preach the gospel message to thousands. In the 1960 s God restored the ministry of the Pastor. The results were the average local church went from several dozen to several hundred and even into the thousands. In the 1970 s He restored the ministry of the Teacher. Until that time the normal Wednesday night Bible study averaged a dozen or so. In the seventies teachers like Bill Gothard and others were filling football stadiums and teaching to thousands the Word of God. It was at this time that Christian teachers, therapists and Deliverance ministries began to seriously seek answers to mental and emotional problems God s people were struggling with. They no longer felt comfortable sending them to the world. Unfortunately, the Christian Colleges they went to for their training had embraced many theories the secular world had formulated only after 8

9 embracing Materialism and rejecting the spiritual realm including God, angels, Satan and demons and therefore the Bible, as a source of knowledge. One of these was the secular theory on Multiple Personality Disorder. Since there was no such thing as demons or the spirit world the only answer must be that the material- physical mind had split or divided into more than one part and now one person with their own characteristics, mannerisms and morals lived in one part of the mind while other totally distinct persons lived in the other parts. 1 Timothy 4:1 states, Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. Multiple Personality is a doctrine of demons. It is ironic this doctrine of demons was made possible only after those who formulated this theory first rejected the existence of demons. It is tragic that many have imported this doctrine of demons into the Church and their deliverance ministry. They then attempt to validate it as Scriptural by finding verses that they believe support it. Our hope is that this article may open at least some blind eyes. Amy The Alter In part three we will examine "Amy The Alter". Amy is an alter whose life span of growth covers the ages of three until fourteen, even though she was in the women for thirty-one years. She is the most complete personality I have dealt with to date. She quit aging at fourteen due to a change in the woman's circumstances. I think you will find her study fascinating.
