2 Good Morning and Welcome! You had lots of choices this Sunday, and we are so glad that you are here with us! We want to connect with you at your speed and in your way. Please take a moment to complete a Connect Card from the seatback in front of you, and bring it by the info center to receive a special gift. About Us ~ We follow Jesus Christ, believing that he not only provided a way for us to have peace with God, but gave us an example of how we should live. Our doors and arms are open humbly and joyfully to anyone who wants to learn with us how to follow Jesus Christ as Lord. As we say, "Grace happens here." Kids & Babies ~ During our Modern Worship service, our nursery is fully staffed to care for children from birth through 3 years old, while kids in pre-k through grade 5 are encouraged to join Little Eden Kids Church for a special worship time of their own. Parents can register children in the Kids Courtyard beginning at 10:30am. Pickup is immediately after the service. Courtyard Café ~ We offer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, and water from 8:30 11:15 am each Sunday. Please stop by and enjoy a cup O joe and catch up with friends. We invite you to stay between services to fellowship with each other and enjoy the beautiful weather! Did you know that we are saved by our faith in Jesus? 4 Summary of Position The Families Minister will be a pastor to families within our church and the Sarasota community at large, responsible to help families become followers of Jesus and grow in their faith. Statistically the most significant influence in whether a child will remain in the faith is whether the parents are active in their faith. So, the Families Minister will focus on discipling parents as the primary disciplers of their children, and supporting them with engaging education and friendship opportunities for their children and youth. The Families Minister will also create opportunities that invite and encourage engagement with our surrounding community. Roger Shenk, Pastor

5 Liz, Steve and their sons, Mike and Scott, moved to Sarasota last June after spending the last 20 years in the Lancaster County, PA, area. Liz grew up in Raleigh, NC, graduated from UNC- Chapel Hill and then graduated from Gordon- Conwell Theological Seminary just north of Boston. It was at Gordon- Conwell that she met and married Steve who was also a student there. After they both finished seminary, Liz and Steve were blessed with the opportunity to travel to a number of countries including Israel, Greece and Turkey. Liz is so thankful and feels so blessed to have been able to meet so many brothers and sisters in Christ around the world and to experience the reality of so many who need Jesus. Before Liz and Steve married, Liz spent 15 months serving in Children s Ministries as a full-time intern on staff at a church in the San Francisco Bay Area as a part of her seminary studies. In seminary her heart was stirred for Family Ministries as she took Family Ministries classes and this passion grew as she became good friends with a couple who had dedicated their lives to minister to families. After graduating with her MA in Christian Education, she served on staff at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA, and then after marrying Steve, she served as Director of Children s Ministries at Grantham Church next to Messiah College in Grantham, PA. When their oldest son, Michael, was born she stayed home to focus on raising the boys, but stayed involved in ministry as a volunteer leading Women s Bible Studies, teaching Adult Sunday School classes, leading a Young Mom s group, managing resources for the church library and serving on the Women s Ministries team, as well as being involved in other ministry opportunities. She also spent several years working for the Brethren in Christ denomination. She is currently teaching at Sarasota Christian School.

7 Summary. For Further Study If only you would have had more faith, God would have... or If you would have just believed more, God wouldn t have Is that really how it works? Can faith be measured as a percentage of intensity? Is it possible to hit 100% faith, or really go for it and give it 110% faith? Is it possible to only have 80% faith? Is 30% faith really any faith at all? That sort of thinking sets up faith as a power to be mustered up in order to accomplish things. Some teachers have taught that overtly, but most of us have simply caught it by assumption and left it unchallenged. Know this: Faith is not a power, it is a confidence. Faith is the belief that God is good, loving, and powerful. His power is sufficient for anything he desires to do. His power resides in and emanates from him, at his will, unhindered and un-helped by anything we can do. In other words, his power is not made weaker by a lack of belief, or stronger by believing harder. Stop thinking of your faith as more or less, and start asking, Is it on or off? You can actually know for sure whether your faith is on or off! It s not whether you feel, it s whether you believe. And you know that you believe when you live like you believe. If you believe God, you will live your life with confidence in him. You will pray to him, you will worship him, you will love him, and you will do what he says. When we don t do those things, it is because of our unbelief. Of course, part of our human condition is the struggle to believe. Our faith is challenged with every disappointment. But that s when faithfulness carries us. Decide to follow Jesus, to be faithful to his word. When you believe like that, and do not doubt by turning away from him, your faith will secure for you a great reward, which comes after this life. Study and Application Read Matthew 17: What are you praying for? Do you keep digging up the seed of faith to examine it? This week, every time you want to examine the seed, try planting a new seed by praying, and living in accordance with what God has said. Read Luke 17:5. Have you ever asked God to increase your faith? Simplify your understanding. Just determine to believe. Read Mark 4: Is the Kingdom of God established in your life? Read Hebrews 11. Are you willing to believe until you receive, even if it s not in this life? Would you be willing to die for Jesus, trusting in the coming kingdom? If so, are you less willing to die to the need for obvious answers to your prayers on this earth? Maintain faith by maintaining hope, and confidence in God. He is good, loving, and powerful. Submit your heart and life to him accordingly. 7

The Drama Department at Sarasota Christian School invites you to the upcoming production of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Show time is Sunday, March 31 at 3pm. All performances will be held in the Auditorium on the Sarasota Christian School campus, located at 5415 Bahia Vista St. in Sarasota. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 18. EASTER EGG HUNT Saturday April 20 th 9:00am-12:00pm. Grab a friend and HOP on over to our Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt for games, petting zoo, prizes, food, face painting, and the egg hunt.
