2 Message Notes Takin It to the Streets Acts 2:1 21 WE MUST GO OUT WITH THE GOSPEL Therefore go and make disciples of all na ons (Ma hew 28:19) You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8) MAKE A COMMON CONNECTION U erly amazed, they asked: Aren t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our na ve language? (Acts 2:7 8) RESPOND TO QUESTIONS WITH GRACE What does this mean? (Acts 2:12) Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15 16) LAUGH AT YOURSELF Some, however, made fun of them and said, They have had too much wine. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It s only nine in the morning! (Acts 2:13, 15) GIVE GLORY TO GOD We hear them declaring the wonders of God (Acts 2:11) Welcome to Beloit First Chris an Church (BFCC) We are glad you re here and pray you will experience God s presence and love. We believe accep ng and living in a right, loving rela onship with God through Jesus Christ is the most important decision you will ever make. The Bible tells us: And this is what God has tes fied: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11 12) Jesus Christ preached the Gospel (good news) of his coming and called everyone to: Repent from our sin that is, reject and turn away from our old desires and ac ons of self righteousness and self indulgence that separate us from God and the life He has for us. To repent is to admit we need a Savior and to look to Him in trust. Believe that Jesus sacrificial death on the cross offers full forgiveness for our sins, and convincingly demonstrates God s deep, ongoing love for us. Follow Jesus, who rose from the dead and lives forever. Through the Holy Spirit, the life of Christ in us brings new life, a transforma on of our desires, and the power to live obediently to God s Word for all who put their faith and trust in him. Steve will also offer a brief mission moment at both worship services. We encourage you to talk with Steve before or a er the services and offer your support to Salina Rescue Mission. The mee ng agenda and reports will be available at the Welcome Center that Sunday morning. APRIL 21 Help us provide pies for the NCK Red Cross Blood Drive. You can bring pies to the NCK Tech College gym or the BFCC kitchen the morning of the 21st, or leave it in the church kitchen the evening before if more convenient. We are also looking for 2 volunteers to cut pies before the blood drive begins around 10:30 a.m. the morning of the 21st. Thank you for your help! APRIL 23 Heart Choices 2015 Spring Banquet, Beloit Municipal Building at 7:00 p.m. JJ Jasper will be the featured speaker. JJ co hosts a na onal morning radio show on American Family Radio network. He is the author of Losing Cooper: Finding Hope to Grieve Well, Moses Was a Basketcase, and a children s book, When I Grow Up. 5 Announcements APRIL 24 Learning to Grieve Well : Radio personality and author JJ Jasper will give a free, informal presenta on, at 10:00 a.m. in the BFCC Family Life Center Gym. JJ and his wife, Melanie, lost their only son, Cooper, through a tragic accident. Through their grief was born a message of hope. JJ will be sharing on prac cal ways to deal with grief as well as emo onal and spiritual truths how you can make it through grief, and how you can be of help to someone who is grieving. MAY 7 Beloit Area Prayer Breakfast, 6:30 a.m., at BFCC: All North Central Kansas folks are invited to par cipate in the free breakfast at the Beloit Area Prayer Breakfast at Beloit First Chris an Church from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Erin Burks will be the key note speaker as she shares about her prayer journey. Erin is the author of Twice the Blessing, as well as a wife, mother and dedicated follower of Jesus. Come join us for this special celebra on of prayer! No reserva ons required. A free will dona on is appreciated. JULY 5 10 Christ in Youth Move Conference for High School students. Any HS Students (Incoming Freshman & Gradua ng Seniors) that are interested in a ending Christ In Youth s MOVE conference in Lincoln NE this summer should contact Pastor Arick! MOVE is designed to amplify the call of Christ on students lives to become Kingdom Workers through bible teaching, worship, and fellowship. MOVE is July 5th 10th, and a $50 deposit is required to secure the student s spot on the trip. All other registra on/trip costs will be covered through fundraising. Mitchell County Food Pantry current needs: canned meat, jello, bar soap, and laundry detergent. You may drop off items in the dona on box located in the north hallway of the Educa on wing here at BFCC. 6

4 Welcome new member Carolyn Langfeldt! BFCC is blessed to have had Carolyn Langfeldt join in membership on March 29, We asked Carolyn to answer a few ques ons so the church family could get to know her be er. Please extend warm and genuine friendship to Carolyn! What people and/or circumstances were helpful in leading you to know Jesus Christ, and to accept him as your Savior and Lord? In high school I was invited to a youth group called Son City. Through that ministry I became a Chris an and was bap zed. Where have you lived over the course of your life? I was born in Chanute, Kansas. I am one of six kids. My dad was a State Policeman and we moved around the state of Kansas. Thru other opportuni es for his work, we lived in Ohio and Illinois. I spent most of my me in Illinois. I lived in Tennessee for a year, then came to Kansas and se led in Tipton where my family lives. What ini ally a racted you to BFCC and encouraged you to connect with us? I came to BFCC a er my sister, Dorothy Katsiyiannis, invited me. I needed to draw near to God and wanted a church I could grow in and learn from. I feel very much at home here and am excited to see where God leads me. I am trying to heal from a very sad divorce. Tell us about some of your talents, interests, or hobbies: I currently work as a cook at the local café. I enjoy spending me with my parents and family. Movies are always fun...i am addicted to movie popcorn! Name a few favorite books, movies, or experiences you ve enjoyed: I m not much of a reader. I enjoy old movies and chick flicks, anything with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan :o) Anything else you d like to say? I m a li le on the shy side. I am known as the crazy aun e by Dorothy s kids. I m a li le silly at mes. I don t like when others are upset and I try to fix things. Ministry of Evangelism (Karen Buser ) This ministry seeks to develop ideas for communica ng the Gospel to our community. Ministry of Worship (Doug Johnson ) This ministry develops the worship service each week through prayer, praise, communion, and God s Word. It oversees the praise teams, music, and technicians. Ministry of Hospitality (Pat Adams ) This ministry plans ways to show the love of Jesus Christ by mee ng par cular needs of those who come to worship. It oversees greeters and childcare. Ministry of Refreshment (contact any pastor ) This ministry looks to love people by offering food and drink in various situa ons. It oversees Meals on Wheels, Home meals for those recently hospitalized, Doughnut Sunday, and Sunday Morning Coffee/Tea Service for guests and visitors. Ministry of Adult Discipleship (Barb Grove ) This ministry aims to help adult believers grow in their faith. It oversees adult Sunday School classes, small groups, our Faith Partner program, and the church library. Ministry of Jr./Sr. High Discipleship (Renee Mason ) This ministry aims to help Jr./Sr. High students grow in their faith. It oversees the Fusion youth groups, fellowship events, retreats, and youth mission trips. Ministry of Children s Discipleship (Teri Henningsen ) This ministry aims to help elementary students grow in their faith. It oversees Sunday School, CLASH, Vaca on Bible School, and Children s Church. Ministry of Facility Maintenance (contact any pastor ) This ministry maintains and encourages use of our facili es for all ministries. It oversees specific repairs, projects, and needs for the church buildings and grounds. Ministry of Financial Stewardship (Jim Gates ) This ministry seeks to handle the finances of the church with integrity. It oversees offering coun ng, financial record keeping, and yearly budget proposals. Ministry of Missions (Jeane e Luke and Jodi File ) This ministry oversees our missionaries, and develops strategies to promote and increase mission awareness, giving, and par cipa on. 9 Prayer requests from last Sunday Praise God for Easter Sunday, today, on April 5, 2015!!! Praise God for the wonderful spring CLASH season as their final mee ng was Wednesday, April 1, 2015! Praise God with Carolyn Langfeldt for her decision to join the church family last Sunday on March 29th. Praise God with Ken Moeller for the 1st wedding anniversary today, April 5, 2015, for Ma and Chelci Kuiack. Praise God with Rod Pearson for the ongoing therapy he is receiving. Praise God with Charle and Eddie Green for the heath improvements that allowed baby Brady Michael Green to come home from Wichita last week. Pray for the details related to the Takin It to the Street block party on April 12th! Pray for Jesse Mudd for physical therapy, healing and recovery from his injuries as no surgery has been recommended. Pray for Joanne Holway as she had a stroke while she was already in the hospital last week. Pray for Lorna Jones as she fell when visi ng a rela ve out of town and she hit her head cu ng a gash that needed 8 s tches. Pray for Bre Williams as he recovers following foot surgery on April 3, Pray for Beverly Katsiyiannis, Dorothy K. s niece in CA, as she is receiving treatment for a health concern. Pray for Damaris Niewald as she is in a KC hospital as she con nues to fight cancer. Pray for Lawrence Gentleman as he con nues cancer treatments. Pray for Sidney Doane as her rehab con nues in Lincoln, Nebraska. Pray for Dan Reling for his healing and recovery and for his family as several have pending concerns.
