2 Message Notes How God Works and is Victorious 2 Thessalonians 2:13 17 CONTRASTING THE WORKS OF SATAN WITH THE WORKS OF GOD We ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unse led or alarmed (2 Thessalonians 2:1 2) So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm (2 Thessalonians 2:15) GOD CHOOSES US BY LOVE AND GRACE But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you... We believe accep ng and living in a right, loving rela onship with God through Jesus Christ is the most important decision you will ever make. The Bible tells us: And this is what God has tes fied: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11 12) Jesus Christ preached the Gospel (good news) of his coming and called everyone to: Repent from our sin that is, reject and turn away from our old desires and ac ons of self righteousness and self indulgence that separate us from God and the life He has for us. To repent is to admit we need a Savior and to look to Him in trust. Believe that Jesus sacrificial death on the cross offers full forgiveness for our sins, and convincingly demonstrates God s deep, ongoing love for us. Follow Jesus, who rose from the dead and lives forever. Through the Holy Spirit, the life of Christ in us brings new life, a transforma on of our desires, and the power to live obediently to God s Word for all who put their faith and trust in him. 3 Announcements AUGUST Main Event Men s Conference in Kansas City: The sessions start Friday evening (Aug 26) from 6:30 p.m. 10 p.m. and resumes on Saturday from 8 a.m. through noon (dismissal). The cost for the event is $69. This event is for young men (teens) and older. Youth pricing is $39. You can register online or we will have a sign up table in Fellowship Hall July 17, 24, and 31. You can pay at the table and we will get you registered for the event. For more informa on you can look on the website: The only other cost will be for rooms (we will double up on the rooms), an evening meal on Friday, and lunch on the way home Saturday. We will find a motel with a Saturday breakfast included. Please let us know by July 31 if you are a ending so we can get rooms reserved. Thank you and we hope you will be able to a end. SEPTEMBER Save these dates for the BFCC Women s Retreat at Ring Neck Ranch. Please watch for more details to come. New, weekly open corporate prayer me every Thursday at 12 noon: Anyone and everyone is invited to par cipate in an open me of corporate prayer over the Thursday lunch hour (12 noon to 1 p.m). You can come and go as needed as together we seek God s heart, and listen for whatever the Holy Spirit prompts for prayer, including our church, community, and the world. Par cipate any Thursday you are able. They all joined together constantly in prayer (Acts 1:14); They raised their voices together in prayer to God (Acts 4:24) Announcements The Meals Ministry is looking for addi onal volunteers: The Meals Ministry provides meals for people just home from a recent hospital stay or other challenging me in their lives. Coordinator Tracy Anderes calls and organizes individual volunteers from a call list who might be willing to make and deliver a meal from me to me. If you would like to be on this call list, please contact Tracy Anderes ( or tracyanderes@yahoo.com) or Dave Mealiff ( or dmealiff@beloi cc.org). Those on the call list are not required to provide a meal every me they are called by the coordinator only when they are able. Join with us in serving others! Help us spread the Word of God as far as we can. Mitchell County Food Pantry needs this month are: Jelly, dry pasta, canned tomatoes, laundry detergent, macaroni & cheese. These items may be dropped at the Food Pantry on Tuesday mornings from 9:00 11:00 a.m., or brought to the church and put in the collec on box marked for the food pantry in the north hallway of the Educa on wing. 5 6

4 Missionaries of the Month: Harry & Robin Durgin Harry and Robin Durgin work with The Navigators and currently reside in Colorado. Here is the latest correspondence from Harry and Robin: July 2016 A quote from John Lynch's book, The Cure : "[Those who are walking with God] are careful and carefree as they realize that their Father is crazy about them on their worst day." I would add that he is no more crazy about them on their best day. A couple of months ago I asked for prayer for our seminar on purity with some 45 Navigator staff in their 20's. It was three days of teaching, stories, workshops, prayer, reflec on, vulnerability with peers and mentors. Since that me we have been following up on the phone as these men live all over the US. Here's a conclusion one of my buddies & I came to: The objec ve we're a er is NOT to stop sinning but rather to seek an in macy with Father, to listen to him, to walk with him. (Jn 10:27...My sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me.) When our obj is to stop looking at porn for example we reach deep inside to find the wherewithall to avoid that sin. This is self effort. This is not the freedom Jesus invites us into. We may look good for a while, we may even feel good for a while but then we cave. Rather Jesus invites us to a whole new place. Right by his side enjoying him. (A by product of this in macy is a life of less sin.) This incredible conclusion is a game changer! We realized together on the phone talking that it isn't just about our struggle with purity, it's about all of life. Not just sex, but finances, forgiveness, self image, etc. Peter walks on the water toward Jesus but when his focus shi ed to the wind & the waves he caved. But another beau ful part of the story is that he let go of self effort & cried to Jesus who was right there. (Jesus was crazy about him!) Thanks so very much for your prayer & partnership with Robin & I as we partner with these young men & women. Ministry of Evangelism (Karen Buser ) This ministry seeks to develop ideas for communica ng the Gospel to our community. Ministry of Worship (Doug Johnson ) This ministry develops the worship service each week through prayer, praise, communion, and God s Word. It oversees the praise teams, music, and technicians. Ministry of Hospitality (Angela Engelbert ) This ministry plans ways to show the love of Jesus Christ by mee ng par cular needs of those who come to worship. It oversees greeters and childcare. Ministry of Refreshment (contact any pastor ) This ministry looks to love people by offering food and drink in various situa ons. It oversees Meals on Wheels, Home meals for those recently hospitalized, Doughnut Sunday, and Sunday Morning Coffee/Tea Service for guests and visitors. Ministry of Adult Discipleship (Dave Mealiff ) This ministry aims to help adult believers grow in their faith. It oversees adult Sunday School classes, small groups, our Faith Partner program, and the church library. Ministry of Jr./Sr. High Discipleship (contact any pastor ) This ministry aims to help Jr./Sr. High students grow in their faith. It oversees the Fusion youth groups, fellowship events, retreats, and youth mission trips. Ministry of Children s Discipleship (Vene e Davis ) This ministry aims to help elementary students grow in their faith. It oversees Sunday School, CLASH, Vaca on Bible School, and Children s Church. Ministry of Facility Maintenance (contact any pastor ) This ministry maintains and encourages use of our facili es for all ministries. It oversees specific repairs, projects, and needs for the church buildings and grounds. Ministry of Financial Stewardship (Tim Mehl ) This ministry seeks to handle the finances of the church with integrity. It oversees offering coun ng, financial record keeping, and yearly budget proposals. Ministry of Missions (Jeane e Luke and Jodi File ) This ministry oversees our missionaries, and develops strategies to promote and increase mission awareness, giving, and par cipa on. 9 Prayer requests from last Sunday Praise God today for Arick and Kacy Johanson as we commission, send and pray for their new ministry in Kearney, NE. Praise God for the pot blessing celebra on dinner to share food, love and fellowship for the Johansons at noon July 24th. Praise God with George and Bobbi Link for their recent 33rd wedding anniversary on July 23, Praise God with the Ve er family for Abby Ve er s recent 14th birthday. Praise God with Arick Johanson as he shared blessings regarding the group of high school students who went to the CIY Conference last week in Warrensburg, MO. Praise God for the Father Daughter Dance event at the church July 22, Pray for Brendon Mason for healing and recovery following surgery. Pray with Mary Lou Heller for her 45 year old nephew who is scheduled for heart surgery in Oklahoma on July 28, Pray with Karen Stortz for her sister, Audrey, as she starts the 1st round of chemo a er she was diagnosed with cancer.
