2 May is Mary's month! And during May, throughout the Catholic world, special devotions honor the Virgin Mary. "May Crowning" is a traditional Catholic ritual that occurs in the month of May and it recognizes Mary as Queen of heaven and earth. Since medieval times, we have had the combination between Mary and the month of May. May is considered the season of the beginning of new life. "May Crowning" marks a new spiritual season. Our Mary, Queen of heaven and earth, lifted us right out of the last long, cold days of winter and firmly planted our hearts in the warm and promising soil of spring. 3 Applications will be accepted through May 31, 2018 for tuition assistance for eligible children of St. James Major Parish who attend Catholic elementary schools. Applications are available in the vestibule of the church. In order to receive tuition assistance, parents or guardians must complete an application for each child. The SJM School Endowment Board will provide $500 subsidy per eligible Catholic elementary school student on behalf of both the Endowment Board and SJM Parish. The Endowment Board will pay the subsidy directly to Catholic elementary schools upon verification of your child/children s enrollment. Eligibility requirements are included on the application. This group will reach out to many of our church members who are going through grief for their d e c e a sed l o v e o n e s. Coordinators have been trained are ready to take on this noble task. So come out and join us in supporting each other through grief. A sign up sheet is also in the back of the Church for those who wish to sign up and join. It s a wonderful gift of prayer to have a Mass offered for a deceased loved -one or for a special intention. Make your Mass requests at the Rectory. Weekend Masses are reserved for the Parish only.
