1 Romans 13:8-9 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet, and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself. Romans 12:14-19 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God s wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord. 275 North Halcyon Road Arroyo Grande, CA Contact us. Mendelssohn) Call To Worship * Please rise as you are able in body and/or spirit for our Call to Worship: One: Like the faithful ones who have gone before us, let us keep our eyes focused on Jesus, Many: Our hearts set on God s love, One: Our hands read to bind up the hurts of creation and all people, Many: Our feet ready to go the extra mile. One: Let our eyes see light even within darkness and glimpse potential where others see dead ends. Many: Give us mouths eager to sing God s praise and hearts yearning to rejoice. One: Like the ones who have gone before us, All: Let us follow as part of the communion of saints. * Please remain standing for our opening hymn. Hymn No. 702 Singing With All the Saints In Glory Children s Moment Nursery care is available. Children ages K-6 are dismissed with their teachers at this time to room 211. Junior & Senior high will meet in Criswell Hall. Call to Confession One: Please join me in our Call to Confession: All: O God, on this day devoted to the living memory of the martyrs of the church and to the celebration of the witness of loved ones and friends, we confess that we have mixed feelings. Recalling the faithfulness and courage of Christian men and women who risked, and often sacrificed, their very lives in your Son's service both inspires us and makes us feel wistful. We know we do not measure up to them, but we feel that we should -- and that we might have, except for bad breaks or the interference of others. Prayer continued on next page

4 Prayer of Confession (continued) Most patient God, help us put an end to this self-deception. Help us to forget what we might have been, what we might have done. Remind us that even the most conspicuous martyrs of the church, even the bravest saints we have known and loved, were ordinary people, subject to the same mixed feelings about their own worth and potential. Then help us concentrate on the present and the future: on the things we might yet do, the persons we might yet be, in Christ's service, beginning today. Amen.. broken and are powerless to change it. We need your mercy. We want to be made whole and new. We ask for your forgiveness and for you to do in us and for us what we cannot. Amen. Choral Anthem Softly and Tenderly Chancel Choir David Beaman, solo Sharing of Our Joys & Concerns with Pastoral Prayers & Thanksgiving Prayer for Giving & Receiving of Our Tithes & Offerings Offertory Canzonetta (C. Nordman) Doxology Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Prayer For Illumination One: Please join me in our Prayer for Illumination: ALL: Holy God, we thank you for equipping us through your Word to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. It is our desire to hear your Word, receive it and respond to it in obedience. Where our desire falters, we ask for courage. Where our will is weak, we ask for strength. Speak to us, we pray, the word of conviction, of encouragement, of comfort or of teaching that we most need to hear, for you alone know our hearts. Amen. Scripture Romans 12:14 19; 13:8 9 One: This is the word of the Lord. Many: Thanks be to God.
