3 Letter from the Team Rector I am sure many of us were caught by surprise at the recent snow. I am told its been some years since the last decent snow fall in our area, and it is certainly very early in the year for it to fall. My family and I were captivated by the beauty of the blanket of white over the fields and the tunnel of snowy trees we drove through. We visited a lovely lady for tea who lived down a steep driveway, and you guessed it, had a battle getting back out with the black ice on the tar. I enjoyed the challenge of getting grit on all the right spots and driving my car up the hill. What is beauty for some is hardship for others. Many of us can be like my car, loosing traction in our lives and finding it difficult to get going, feeling out of control and maybe even sliding backwards. So many people are dealing with disappointment, bad decisions, addiction, depression, abuse, difficult marriages, estranged children the list can be lengthy. These things can be like black ice, making it hard for us to get ahead in what may already be a tough world. Where some may see beauty, we may be battling. What a lonely place to find ourselves in. In the Christian faith we proclaim something radical and amazing, ridiculous to some maybe, but hope to many millions. We believe that Christmas reveals a stunning truth, that God chose to step out of the perfection of heaven and step into our world as a little baby. Not to stay as a baby though, but to grow up, experiencing what we experience in life so that God would forever more know what it is to live as a human being. One of my favourite verses says that Jesus is now in heaven pleading our case to His Father. Think about that for a moment. If you feel you are loosing traction in life, if you possibly identified with an item on my list, you have Jesus on your side pleading for God s love and mercy on your life. Christmas is fantastic the lights, the food, the presents but as great as those things are they can hide from us this amazing truth, God is on your side, He loves you and He wants you to invite Him into those seemingly impossible issues which are causing you to slip and slide. May God bless you and your family at this Christmas time, may you know all the joy this season brings and may you know God s presence encouraging you day by day.
