As we celebrate this great day we recall that the Church is solely the work of the Holy Spirit. Without the Spirit, there would be no Church. It is the Spirit that keeps her teachings free from error. It is the Spirit that makes her holy and her sacraments possible. It is the Spirit that watches over her and unites her members as the body of Christ. We human beings can do none of this on our own. Only in the Spirit is any of this possible. We pray in a special way today that the Holy Spirit will make us faithful members of the Church and loving witnesses to Jesus Christ in our world. A few weeks ago, I came across this list of ways that we can witness to our faith each day: When spouses are known to pray together for the good of their marriage. When parents spend time praying with their children, reading Bible stories and sharing the lives of the saints. When parents carefully monitor everything their children are exposed to in the media and explain clearly what is good and what is evil and why. When families come together to Mass every Sunday. When we go to Confession regularly and attend daily Mass when possible. When we pray in public before a meal and bless ourselves when passing by a Catholic church. When we are known to refrain from gossip, immodesty, foul language and greed. When we speak the truth (especially about moral issues) with kindness, patience and gentleness. When we live devout and simple lives. When we are generous to the poor and needy. These are just a few examples of how we can kindle faith in people around us without using words. May the Holy Spirit help us to reflect the life of Jesus and draw others to Him and His Church. Ticket sales for our 50 th Anniversary Breakfast Brunch on Sunday, June 24 th immediately following our 10:30 AM Mass begin this weekend. We will have several speakers, a special DVD of our parish for our families, and a Kid s Craft Table for our children. But most of all we ll celebrate our amazing parish church and family!! If you visit another for parish for Mass, please do not forget to get a bulletin signed by the pastor. These bulletins can be returned to our ICC parish center anytime or handed-in on the first day of class in September. May Devotions Rosary & Benediction Monday, May 21 st at 7:00 PM Please join us as we honor our Blessed Mother during the month of May. As we enter the final month of school, we take time to acknowledge the accomplishments of our students through awards ceremonies, graduations a n d c e l e b r a t i o n s. O n e v e r y i m p o r t a n t accomplishment took place on Wednesday, when we inducted six of our middle school students into the National Junior Honor Society. The National Junior Honor Society has made a positive difference in the lives of individuals and in the spirit of community and school. These students have already exhibited academic achievement, leadership, admirable character and service that demonstrates their willingness to use their talents and skills for the improvement of society. Through NJHS service activities, members maintain and extend the qualities that won them selection. Membership is thus both an honor and a commitment.
