Through prayerful whole /ife worship, we will discover the presence ofthe Holy Spirit. HOLSTON ANNUAL CONFERENCE NOTES PASTORS MESSAGE Galatians 5:22-23; John 15: 1-5 "Growing Fruit" As I write this article it is a blazing 92 degrees outside and day is the first day of summer. Let us hope we get some cooler weather and some rain as well. In Revelation 3:15 the writer says the church neither hot nor cold but lukewarm. In order for be "hot" for God's work, but cool enough handle the inevitable problems of life we need be more Christ like. (As individuals and as a body believers) is us of As we grow in Him like the vegetables/ fruits of the summertime, let us remind ourselves of the fruit of the Holy Spirit from Galatians chapter 5. Which are: Love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. We all have these attributes in us from time - time- but we want be more consistent in showing these at work, school, home, on vacation, or on the roadways ( no road rage please.) So how do we do this? Staying with my agricultural theme let's look at what Jesus said in John 15: 1-5. Paraphrased. "Jesus is the vine. We are the branches. If we "abide" (live) with Him we will bring much fruit." Ok, how do we abide? We allow him take up residence in our lives through the Holy Spirit. The best ways establish this relationship is through; 1. Praying without ceasing 2. Studying His word. 3. Worshiping with other believers. 4. Using our talents, time, and resources for His kingdom. Under the theme, "Called Action," the Holsn Annual Conferencepasseda resolution of commitment save 100,000 lives by raising$1 million in the coming year for ImagineNo Malaria. Members representing 897 churches in east Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and north Georgia also sent about 9,000 kits and buckets of food, school, and health supplies Liberia and Zimbabwe. They overwhelmed the two large ocean-carriertrailers they pack each year for Africa, necessitating(for the first time) a third trailer accommodatethe goods. Members also gave an offering of $96,372 for Vietnam victims of the war chemical Agent Orange. They gave $61,372 children's ministry through "Change for Children," half designated for Imagine No Malaria, the other half supporting children's ministries in Holsn. An unannounced additional offering raised $11,768 for Imagine No Malaria -- which at $10 per bed net protect a child from malaria-bearing mosquies - will save1,176 lives, leaderssaid. The 1,920 members of the Holsn Annual Conference dedicated much of their gathering learning about and lifting up "Vital Congregations" and celebrating the ministry of Bishop James Swanson, projected for reassignmentthis summer after eight years as resident bishop. Copied from: THE CALL, Vol. Ell, # th If you/we are going bear fruit this summer we cannot ignore the items I just listed. It is vacation time, away from work, school but should not be a time away from Him. I want bear fruit this summer and through the year and I hope you want do the same. Please stay connected THE VINE. God Bless, R~ Good News! Ted and Debbie Salyers will become grandparents in December.

5 Crossroads United Methodist Church PATHWAY - July, 2012 T The youthhavehadseveral thin" Hi Randy, going on since the end of May. We attended a pool party with the youth from Mt. Carmel UMC and hope partner with them for more activities and events. We had 9 youth attend the pool party which was Great! On Sunday, June 3 rd, we ok 3 youth a Kingsport District youth event at Mafair UMC. While there we played some fun games and elected the new youth representatives from the Kingsport District the CCYM (Conference Council of Youth Ministries). The people elected are the ones that help plan Resurrection and other conference events for the youth. Maybe next year one of our youth will run for CCYM. There are several things going on within the district during the summer for us participate in with other churches. The youth left for LexReach and Ichthus on Sunday, June 17th and will be returning on June 24th. There are 8 youth attending and 2 adults this year. I hope they are blessed by the people they are helping through their mission work; also, for them have an amazing time at the Ichthus music festival at the end of the week. I want ask everyone in the Church please encourage all youth attend Sunday School each Sunday at 10:00 am and Sunday night youth and activities at 6;00 pm. I know it is summer and vacations and other things are going on but please get them the Church. It is important for them learn and grow in their faith and walk with Christ. The last few months' I wanted thank you again for hosting a cook-out at Crossroads for our waiting Little Brothers and Sisters! You all did a wonderful job, more than we even anticipated, and everyone had a lot of fun. I met someone who may be interested in volunteering and I think the kids seemed really excited about receiving their Bibles. (because even reaching one child has the potential reach many!) I look forward visiting your church again talk folks about our program. Feel free let me know whenever that would be convenient for you. Best regards, Rene Griggs Program Coordinar Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee 301 Louis Street, Suite 302 Kingsport, TN Tel: x2 Fax: attendance has been really low and it is hard for the people attending and for me plan activities and have lessons if no one is there participate. This is a great time for youth work on their faith before they move off college (it is extremely hard keep young adults active in Church after they start college). However, if we can encourage them and help them grow and learn at this age hopefully it will make them want continue with church through campus ministries and other places. Please get as many youth church as possible. I would love for us get the point of having more youth than we have chairs. I would gladly accept that problem because that at least means we are growing and doing something right. Youth is about having fun and doing activities while Learning about the love of God and helping spread the love all people.
