2 Welcome to Morrisville Presbyterian Church WE WELCOME GUESTS AND VISITORS to our service today. If you are not a member, we invite you to consider membership with us. If you would like more information about how we can serve you, please speak to a pastor. FRIENDSHIP PAD: During the Words of Welcome, please pass the Friendship Pad to the outside aisle and back again to the center. This allows worshipers to recognize people in their pew, and helps staff members identify those who may need attention. THE CHANCEL FLOWERS: Today we are using the beautiful silk arrangements given by Nancy Kernan as a memorial for her mother, Agnes Slover. USHERING AT TODAY S SERVICE: Head Usher Amy Schnurr, Andy Beidler, Alice Garcia, Cynthia Lang and Tony Zazzu. CHILDCARE FOR CHILDREN UP TO AGE 4 is provided in the Nursery/Pre-School room from 10:15 a.m. 11:45 a.m. Infants and toddlers are also welcome in worship. Visitors, please feel free to worship with your children for as long as they are able. If he or she gets wiggly and needs a stretch break, audio from the service is available in the chapel, until your child is ready to return to the sanctuary for you to continue to worship together. HEARING ASSISTANCE DEVICES are available for use anywhere in the sanctuary during worship. These pocketsized receivers are available from Deacons in either Narthex and are to be returned after the service. HYMNALS, BIBLES, & BULLETINS WITH LARGE PRINT are available during worship each Sunday morning from a Deacon in the Narthex. Please return the Hymnal and/or Bible after the service. PASTORAL CARE REMINDER Members of the staff truly want to be attentive when members or friends of MPC are experiencing health difficulties. If you (or a family member) have been admitted to a hospital, please let us know by contacting the church office, and one of the pastors will be pleased to visit. 5 *AFFIRMATION of FAITH - Unison This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day, and that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God. Amen. COMMISSIONING of the YOUTH in MISSION TRIP to WEST VIRGINIA Welcome Prayer (Unison) Guiding and loving God, empower these people to be your hands and feet. Help them to glorify you by serving others. Send them into the world to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and warm those who are cold. By their actions and words, make them witnesses of your great love and your passion for rescuing your people. Protect them, teach them, and support them as they take this next step in their own journey to becoming the people you want them to be. Fill them with the Holy Spirit and enable them to do their tasks faithfully and joyfully. Bring them safely home and then let their experience further enrich us, so that we too will glorify you by serving our community in the love of Christ. 6 AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Our Affirmation of Faith today comes from The Book of Common Worship and is based on the following verses: 1Cor. 15:1-6; Mark 16:1-9, Matt. 16:16, Rev. 22:13 and John 20:28. TAKE STOCK IN YOUTH IN MISSION S TRIP TO PIPESTEM, WV Youth in Mission will return to Appalachia for a week beginning July 15. We are selling stock in the Communication Center. Stock is an opportunity to invest in our youth and in their spiritual journey as they prepare to reach out to the community in Pipestem, West Virginia to do God s work. Stock can be purchased by making a donation in any amount you choose. In return for your investment you will receive a stock certificate and a postcard from West Virginia, and you will hear about our trip upon our return. Announcements 6 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL BEGINS TODAY! Morrisville United Methodist Church, Morrisville Presbyterian Church, St. John Lutheran Church and Elect Saints Church will once again join forces to offer the community an expanded Vacation Bible School experience this summer starting Sunday, July 9 through July 13. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program which concludes at 8:30 p.m. This year s theme is Hero Central, which will help our children discover their strength in God through Bible stories, a mission project, crafts, games, and science. You should know that last year we encouraged and shared the love of Jesus with almost 100 children, which was double the number of previous years. What a blessing for the community! Please be sure your child, friends and neighbors have pre-registered. Take a moment to visit and electronically submit your child s form. Pre-registration will make opening night much easier. OVERALL SUMMARY: Year-to-date results were favorable by $22,400 primarily due to budgeted severance pay for our interim pastor which was not needed. May 2017 Year-to-Date Variance Explanations: - YTD Operating Revenue ($1K favorable): Revenues were favorable to budget primarily due to higher than expected investment income ($3,100), collection of prior year pledges ($2,200), Head Start rent for June received early ($1,500), higher than expected Plate Collections ($1,300) and Special Gifts of $1,000 in memory of Joe Battaglia offset by $8,500 of lower than budgeted current year pledges. - YTD Total Expenses ($26K favorable): Overall expenses were lower than budgeted primarily due to budgeted severance pay for our interim pastor which was not needed, lower than expected snow removal and solid cost controls in most other departments. - YTD Other Income (Bequests): Bequests were unfavorable to budget by $3,500 Designate MPC as the Charitable Organization for Amazon Smile Just go to smile.amazon.com, select Account and Lists, Your Account, Your Amazon Smile to designate Morrisville Presbyterian Church as the charity. It costs the Amazon user nothing, and it will earn 0.5% from every purchase for the Deacon's Food Basket Program. 7

8 IVINS OUTREACH CENTER COMMUNITY YARD SALE The Ivins Outreach Center will hold a Community Yard Sale on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to noon (rain or shine) in the MPC parking lot. The cost is $25.00 for a 10 foot space. Bring your own table or rent one (limited supply) for an additional $5.00 fee. Vendors and other crafters are needed. If you have items to sell, but not enough to rent a space, or just don t want to bother, then you can donate your merchandise (NO large furniture) to the Ivins Outreach Center. The IOC will keep all the sale proceeds and donate anything that doesn t sell to our own Clothing Center, Salvation Army or Good Stuff. Register for a space by calling the Ivins Outreach Center at MPC Weekly Calendar Weekday Nursery School and Head Start use MPC facilities for their classes.
