2 Welcome to Morrisville Presbyterian Church WE WELCOME GUESTS AND VISITORS to our service today. If you are not a member, we invite you to consider membership with us. If you would like more information about how we can serve you, please speak to a pastor. THE CHANCEL FLOWERS are offered to the glory of God and are given by Kris and Tom Drake in memory of Kris mother, Alice J. Taylor ( ). They are also given by Sheryl and Richard Parker and family in memory of Sheryl s mother, Ruby Suty Tanner. TODAY S ACOLYTE: Jesus once said, I am the light of the world. (John 8:12) We are grateful to our acolytes who each Sunday morning carry the light into the sanctuary, symbolizing the presence of Christ in the worshiping community. At the conclusion of the service, the acolyte bears the light out into the world, where we are called to follow Christ and serve others in his name. Today s acolyte is Madison Neiman. CHILDCARE FOR CHILDREN UP TO AGE 4 is provided in the Nursery/Pre-School room from 10:15 a.m. 11:45 a.m. Infants and toddlers are also welcome in worship. Visitors, please feel free to worship with your children for as long as they are able. If he or she gets wiggly and needs a stretch break, audio from the service is available in the chapel, until your child is ready to return to the sanctuary for you to continue to worship together. HEARING ASSISTANCE DEVICES are available for use anywhere in the sanctuary during worship. These pocketsized receivers are available from Deacons in either Narthex and are to be returned after the service. HYMNALS, BIBLES, & BULLETINS WITH LARGE PRINT are available during worship each Sunday morning from a Deacon in the Narthex. Please return the Hymnal and/or Bible after the service. PASTORAL CARE REMINDER Members of the staff truly want to be attentive when members or friends of MPC are experiencing health difficulties. If you (or a family member) have been admitted to a hospital, please let us know by contacting the church office, and one of the pastors will be pleased to visit. 6 IT S TIME TO CRACK SOME EGGS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15 Sign up to prepare and serve breakfast at the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton NJ on October 15 from our new Trenton Breakfast ministry page on the MPC website under Outreach or use this link on Sign Up Genius, or contact Pastor Debbie at DebbieHeffernan@mpcusa.net. We meet in the MPC parking lot at 6:45 a.m. and carpool to First Presbyterian of Trenton and return to MPC by 9:30 a.m. We serve approximately meals to those in need. See you October 15. RESCHEDULED - IVINS OUTREACH CENTER ANNUAL FALL CLASSIC GOLF OUTING Due to inclement weather on September 19, the annual golf outing at the Yardley Country Club to benefit the Ivins Outreach Center has been rescheduled to Monday, October 17, If you were unable to join us in September, but are now available, don t hesitate to register. We will have 3 categories of golfers/ foursomes men, women and coed. The cost per player will include: golf cart, hot breakfast, shotgun start, beverage cart on course, lunch with complimentary bar beverages, and golf awards! If you were registered for September 19 or would like to register, please contact Jean Sawyer at jean@mv21stcclc.org or call the Ivins Outreach Center x104 so we may make the proper arrangements. 12 TH ANNUAL CRAFT FAIR, SATURDAY OCT. 22 Please join us for a fun-filled day of shopping, lunch, and mingling with friends, old and new, at the 12 th annual Craft Fair, sponsored by Presbyterian Women of MPC, on Saturday, October 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in Fellowship Hall! You will be giving back to your community by helping us raise funds for mission work that PW does throughout the year both locally and worldwide. FREE ADMISSION ALL SAINTS DAY NOVEMBER 6 During the morning worship service on Sunday, November 6, we will observe All Saints Day at Morrisville Presbyterian Church. The service will include a Litany of Remembrance and a Prayer of Thanksgiving, enabling us to give thanks to God for members and family members who have died in the previous year. If you would like a family member s name to be included in the prayer, please notify the church office by Monday, October 31. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! Staying Put in Lower Bucks is looking for your talents! Staying Put utilizes volunteers to help older adults in Lower Bucks County remain at home and actively engaged in their community for as long as possible. We are looking for volunteers to provide support services such as: transportation, friendly social visits, telephone reassurance, assistance in home and yard, minor handyman services, pharmacy/grocery pickups and delivery and help planning social events. 7 WELCOME, ROXY CALLAN We are pleased to welcome Roxy Callan, our new soprano section leader, to our music ministry. Roxy is an excellent addition to our music program and we hope you will take a moment to greet her after worship. UPCOMING ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES Plan to come to all or some of the courses offered. Classes are held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sundays before Worship Service. Faith and Politics October 16, 23, 30 Senior High School Seminar will join the Adult Education Class for a look at political issues and structures in biblical times and our day. The youth designed this three-sunday course to be a non-partisan discussion of pertinent topics with the hope that we can carry our faith into the political world in which we live. FOOD CENTER NEEDS Thank you for your donations. Please continue to bring in regular grocery or store plastic shopping bags that fit a brown bag. Brown paper grocery bags would also be greatly appreciated along with empty egg cartons for weekly distribution of eggs. Help Wanted: Volunteer Operations Manager needed for first Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. when the Food Center is open for working families. Responsibilities include setting up tables and chairs, booting up all computers, interviewing clients and overseeing the interviewers. MPC Clothing Center, is up and running for the season. We are in need of children's clothing for fall/winter, sizes birth through teen. Also, there is a need for men's suits and jeans for both genders. If you have any of these items in fair to good condition, please bring them to the Clothing Center on Mondays from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. or Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You may also put them in the clothing donation box in the basement by the elevator on any other day except Wednesdays. We appreciate your donations. Please come and shop also.
