Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba Father. In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God s image, male and female, of every race and people, to live as one community. But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator. Ignoring God s commandments, we violate the image of God in others and ourselves, accept lies as truth, exploit neighbor and nature, and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care. We deserve God s condemnation. Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation. In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth. Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel from the house of bondage. Loving us still, God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant. Ruth has been described as linguistically tri-lingual (speaking English, Spanish and Italian) and theologically bi-lingual. She comes with a deep commitment to bringing people together of different cultures and theological perspectives. She is currently serving the larger church on two national boards: Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princeton Theological Seminary and member of the Board of Trustees of The Presbyterian Foundation. Everyone is invited to a reception in the lounge to meet Ruth immediately following the worship service. This year we will be recognizing those that work in the Food Center and thanking them for the many hours they donate to this invaluable mission. 7 HERITAGE LUNCHEON, NOVEMBER 1 For those of you celebrating 50 years or more of membership at Morrisville Presbyterian Church, please mark your calendars to save the date for an invitational luncheon on November 1, 2015 following worship. It is Congregational Ministry Committee's privilege to celebrate each one of you and your service to our church here in Morrisville. You will receive an invitation in the mail with a card to mail back to the church office saying you will be happy to attend! Announcements ALL SAINTS DAY NOVEMBER 1 During the morning worship service on Sunday, November 1, we will observe All Saints Day at Morrisville Presbyterian Church. The service will include a Litany of Remembrance and a Prayer of Thanksgiving, enabling us to give thanks to God for members and family members who have died in the previous year. If you would like a family member s name to be included in the prayer, please notify the church office by Tuesday, October 27. During the All Saints service, we will also celebrate The Sacrament of The Lord s Supper. Be sure to join us on this special day. DICKENS' CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION NOVEMBER 18 Langhorne United Methodist Church will host two performances (2:30-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:30 p.m.) of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, in a one-man stage adaptation of the story by the author's greatgreat grandson, Gerald Dickens. A Dickens' Christmas Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. Holiday music will be provided by the Bucks-Mont Squires of Song during the dinner. Ticket prices are as follows: Performances: $15 for adults, $12 for Seniors & students under 18, $8 for children 5th grade and younger. Dinner by advanced ticket sale only: $10 for adults, $6 for 5th graders and under. For tickets, contact Linda Rutledge at or linda.rutledge15@gmail.com. Please mention that you are from MPC because Linda has set aside 15 dinner tickets for MPC for a short time. IVINS OUTREACH CENTER MASKED PARTY AND SILENT AUCTION FUNDRAISER Come and enjoy an afternoon of fun, food, and drink in support of the Ivins Outreach Center s programs and services on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Falls Banquet Hall. We will be celebrating our new initiative, Staying Put in Lower Bucks, a way to help older adults stay in their homes and remain actively engaged in the community. Enjoy a variety of foods prepared by the chefs from Bucks County Technical High School, sample the best local beers and wines, make an impact by making a pledge during the live auction or bidding at the silent auction tables. September 2015 Year-to-Date (YTD) Variance Explanations: - YTD Operating Revenue ($5K unfavorable): Actual Pledge income was $13K lower than budgeted but was partially offset by $8500 of unbudgeted income from the sale of the mini bus to the Ivins House. - YTD Total Expenses ($28K favorable): Overall expenses are lower than budgeted due to lower capital spending (due to timing), the temporary vacancy in Parish Caller position, payroll savings from the health related absence of the MPC Administrative Assistant and timing on some other expenses. - YTD Other Income ($7K unfavorable): The unfavorability is entirely due to timing in the receipt of bequest income. 8
