1 OFFERING RESPONDING TO GOD S WORD MUSICAL OFFERING Catherine Pelletier, Soloist As the Wind Song Through the Trees Swee Hong Lim INVITATION TO THE LORD S TABLE THE GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING and THE LORD S PRAYER May the God of wind and fire be with you! And also with you! Open your hearts to flame of sacred love. We offer our hearts to Christ s promised Holy Comforter. Lift your alleluias for the grace of yesterday and hope for tomorrow. Come, Holy Spirit, nourish our faith and inspire our witness. With those who saw and witnessed; with those who have not seen, yet believe; we sing with glad hearts to you: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. As we remember all he did and taught, as we are filled with the breath of the Spirit, we proclaim that mystery we call faith: Christ died, paying the price we could not; Christ rose, in the glory of the resurrection; Christ will come again, giving new life to all things. Hear us, then, as we pray as Christ taught us Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. COMMUNION OF THE PEOPLE *SONG OF DEDICATION Spirit, Open My Heart Number 692 *BENEDICTION *CHORAL RESPONSE Choral Amen John Rutter *POSTLUDE Psalm XIX Benedetto Marcello

We need your warmth, for fear and distrust are fraying the fabric of human society. We need your guidance, for old ways are hard to give up and new ways are hard to define. Come, Holy Spirit. We need your comfort, for sadness wraps many of us in unending grief. We need your power, for greed and violence haunt every level of society and lurk in the corners of our souls. Come, Holy Spirit. We need your courage, to live as people of peace in an angry and hurried world. We need your love to bind up the wounded, lift up the poor and feed the hungry. Gracious Spirit, forgive our blind eyes which do not see your hovering presence. Let us feel once again the breath of life which flows from your constant care. Renew us and all creation. Amen. 3 SCRIPTURE READING Acts 2: 1-11 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. 5 Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. 6 And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. 7 Amazed and astonished, they asked, Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs in our own languages we hear them speaking about God s deeds of power.
