3 THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FOR THE RIDE HOME First Reading: Sirach 35:12-14, Second Reading: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, Gospel: Luke 18:9-14 PARISH OUTREACH MINISTRY God gives all good things to us, even prayer. This might be a good time to look upon our prayer lives and reflect on God's goodness to us. How have our prayers, our prayer habits, our insights from prayer, even our urges to pray gifts from God? How has prayer and the need for prayer humbled us? How has prayer brought us closer to God? Who's in charge of the heart? This question cuts to the heart of spirituality. That which stands at the very core of the person becomes the battleground. Are we in charge? Or is God? If we believe God is in charge, how do we know God is close? We cannot know (or brag) through our own efforts. We can only know when we allow God in. When we open our hearts to him. And his love. Opening the heart is a life-long process. We progress one moment and one issue at a time. We can take a quick measure by looking at our focus. Is it one focused on God and others? Or, is it focused on the self? Christmas Craft Fair Sunday, December 4th, 2016 Donations of raffle items for the annual Christmas Craft Fair are needed. If you can make an item/s or donate a ready made one, it needs to be in the parish office by November 10th so we can start selling raffles on the following weekend. Please contact me at hankma60@optonline.net or call me at if you have any questions. As always your constant support and generosity is very much appreciated. Marilyn Grynewicz At present, our food pantry is in need of the following items; vegetables (corn, string beans, peas, carrots), soups, tuna fish, rice, coffee, tea, sugar, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toilet paper, and paper toweling. During these past few weeks Outreach has been quite busy helping families with food and clothing. It is only through your generosity of food donations that this can be accomplished. Thank you for always reaching out to all of God s people in love and friendship. Contact Janice by jmierisch1@optimum.net Join Us With Mary When life got overwhelming and too big for us as children, we turned to our mother for support and guidance. As adults, we thank her for all she had done for us. Now we are blessed with the opportunity to turn to our Heavenly Mother Mary to ask for her support and guidance, and thank her for the many blessings she has given us. Every Wednesday after 9:00 AM mass (at 9:30), you are invited to join us as we pray the rosary to ask for her help and guidance and to thank her for her abounding love.

5 Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope - Pope Francis **One Faith, Family and Community is the theme around which we are sharing the inspiring story of the Catholic Ministries Appeal. **As One Faith Family, we are called as a community to show mercy to others as Pope Francis has asked us to do in this extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. **Supporting the Catholic Ministries Appeal gives each of us a remarkable opportunity to show mercy to others and touch the lives of so many who are in our family of faith and in our community a neighbor in need of food or shelter, a young man or woman finding their way to God through our youth or campus ministry programs, or a deacon or seminarian studying to serve in our Diocese. TOTALS for the 2015 APPEAL Parish Goal: $50,000 Number of Pledges: 292 Total Amount Pledged: $50,941 Total Amount Paid: $50,770 Parish Rebate: $10, TO DATE Goal: $50,800 Number of Pledges: 194 Amount Pledged: $45,606 60,000 40,000 20, ,800 45,606 50,770 GOAL TO DATE LAST YEAR Thank you for your support and continued generosity. - John Romaine, CMA Chairperson We need your help to reach our goal. Thanks to the generosity of 194 of our parish families, we have received over $45,000 in pledges to this year s Catholic Ministries Appeal. The bad news is that last year at this time we had received over $50,000 from 285 families. So we have a long way to go to reach that total. The good news is we have over 3,000 families in our parish and we still have 3 months left in this years campaign to make and complete new pledges. So we have the potential to not only reach our goal of $50,800 but we can surpass last year s total of $50,941. In a world of so many troubles, it s easy to feel like there is nothing we can do to make a difference. But we can help feed the hungry. We can see that our seniors are provided with services and shelter. We can provide guidance through troubled times. We can make sure that no one feels alone. If you have not already made a donation to this year s appeal you can make a difference. Please support the ministries of our diocese & parish by making a pledge to the Catholic Ministries Appeal. Please participate!! We need everyone s help!! To make a pledge, simply fill out the form below and place it in the collection basket or mail it back to the parish office. No down payment is necessary. The diocese will send monthly reminders. To help you decide here are some suggested gift plans: $150 pledge = $50 per month $75 pledge = $25 per month One time payment = any amount Whatever you are able to give, large or small will be accepted gratefully. For more information or to make an online donation you go to the CMA website at Thank you for your support & continued generosity.
