We had many edge and lifeteen kids attend who rocked, and shared, and played and had a wonderful time! 3 3RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JANUARY 21, 2018 A note from Fr. Tom I want to begin this note with a word of recognition and gratitude to everyone who participated in the Rock-a-Thon for Haiti. Throughout the day and evening, wherever the group might be found in the Parish Center, whatever the group might be doing, participants (junior and more senior) quite intentionally and enthusiastically kept those rocking chairs rocking! The donations received to date to address hunger in this disasterravaged nation by feeding a family for a year also are greatly appreciated. Poverty and hunger on this scale are not time-limited. If you haven t been able to contribute to this parish effort prior to the actual event last Sunday, contributions designated toward this intergenerational effort will be welcome! You will find below the first publication of a notice for a new, part-time position here at St. Peter s of which I have spoken earlier in winter. It is a position which I truly believe will be sustained by the increased giving we already are beginning to measure. It will help me address both challenges and opportunities that are mine directly as pastor, and which are ours more generally as a parish community. Tom Part-Time Position St. Peter s Parish, Northbridge New position available: electronic communications, data entry and computer applications integration to support parish ministry. Requiring 8 hours per week, schedule per day is negotiable. The ideal candidate will have the necessary computer skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a parish office environment under the direction of the pastor, and will appreciate the pastoral dimensions of all of the work we do. Job announcement Catholic Charities is seeking individuals interested in working with elderly and the disabled. Aides provide light housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and personal care. Companions provide socialization, and light snacks. We are in need of aides to work in the surrounding towns. Candidates must be reliable, compassionate and have reliable transportation. Good opportunity for recently retired person or second job, and who has basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills and be able to lift 25 to 40 pounds. 4 At our next Loreto Gathering Day on February 4, the children will continue collecting the items for their service project. The children will be making Blessing Bags for the Homeless during our Lenten Gathering Day. They are collecting winter hats, gloves, socks, band-aids, trial size toilet paper, chapstick, dry shampoo, trial size toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, wipes, gum, granola bars, protein bars, beef jerky, fruit snacks, nut packs and cookie snack packs. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!! Children s Liturgy of the Word is held at the 11:00 Mass on Sundays except for the first Sunday of each month as that is the Children s Mass for the Gathering Day. Any questions about our Children s Liturgy of the Word, please contact The Edge night this week was called the Masterpiece of life. We started our night out creating our own masterpiece...we got a bit messy, but fortunately tempera paint is washable and cleanup was easy! We talked about how each of us individually is God s very own masterpiece and perfectly what he created us to be. We have a planning meeting next Tuesday so there will be no edge night. Our next edge night will be on January 30th. We did not have an actual lifenight last week since it was our annual rock a thon for Haiti. Our Life night this week will be about Jesus and why we should believe in him. We will be watching a video created by Trent Horn a catholic apologist. Our parent life nights be held on February 4th &11th and March 4th & 11th. This is part of the series called The Battle The kids will be doing a similar program simultaneously. Father Tom will be teaching the parent sessions. We hope all the parents of our lifeteen kids will make the effort to attend.
