6 GREEN / WHITE THE 26th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS HISTORY 101: HOW YOUR CHURCH CAME TO BE This week our RCIA session will investigate the History of the Church. For those inquiring into the Catholic faith this class seems to be a real eye opener. They will learn: the truth about the Church from its very beginning; the many attempts to destroy the Church; how challenges made the Church stronger while the challengers disappeared For many, learning how Protestant faiths are an offshoot of the Catholic Church is something they didn t realize. We remember one inquirer making the remark: Where was my church for 1600 years? Helping others find the truth about the Church is just one of the many missions for RCIA catechists, and knowing the Church history is an important tool in presenting those truths. This week s session at RCIA provides an opportunity to those who wish to learn more about that faith. There are many topics we discuss throughout the sessions of RCIA, each designed to help people in their spiritual journey. Every week we publish the topic for the coming week. They are stand-alone topics as well as complimentary building blocks. If you see a topic that interests you, come join us and participate at whatever level you are comfortable with. Bring a friend, grab a cup of coffee and join us! We look forward to all who are interested in riding along on this spiritual journey we call faith. Everyone is Welcome - Your RCIA Team ********************************************************* Youth Calendar 10/01 10:30a.m. to Noon - Regular Classes 10/08 10:30a.m. to Noon - Regular Classes 10/15 10:30a.m. to Noon - Regular Classes 10/22 10:30a.m. to Noon - Regular Classes 10/29 10:30a.m. to Noon - Regular Classes YOUTH EDUCATION ADULT FAITH FORMATION Adult Growing in Faith - Will resume October 15th. Time may change if there is a funeral. Weekly attendance is not required. This is a drop-in class for anyone interested in gaining understanding of the following Sunday readings at Mass. 7 GREEN / WHITE OCTOBER 1,2017 ATTENTION ALL PARISHIONERS! Spend some quiet time with the Lord. Adoration teaches us the power of silence. Everyday each one of us has an opportunity to spend quiet time with Jesus Christ who is in our adoration chapel, the real body, soul and divinity. At least one parishioner is there at all times. It is an opportunity to increase our relationship with God; we sign up for an hour each week. We get a substitute if we cannot do our hour. Each month we find new people to fill regular hours and new substitutes. Please consider making adoration a part of your regular prayer life. Solitude, silence and prayer give us the chance to hear the still, quiet voice of God. Depending on your schedule, you can choose a daytime, evening, or overnight hour. Overnight, early morning hours give a special chance to hear the silent voice of God, the voice of truth, beauty and goodness. Consider an early morning hour. Call the office at or Tom Murray at Spend some quiet time with the Lord. Learn The Power of Silence in the Adoration Chapel. Adoration is for everyone, an hour opposing the dictatorship of noise in our lives. ****************************************************** UPDATE ON GROUNDS MAINTENANCE HELP After several notices in the bulletin asking for volunteer help, several people have expressed interest in assisting with grounds maintenance. Among those, we have the President of the Bella Vista Garden Club, Judy Jeffrey. Other parishioners also belong to the club and are experienced gardeners. We are hoping to also get them involved. Some parishioners have been assisting with grounds maintenance and are continuing to help. To those persons, thank you for what you do. During the time the flooring was being done in the rectory, our maintenance man, Joe, was able to trim shrubs and catch up with some of the grounds work. A walk through with the gardening experts will be conducted in the near future to better identify how we can improve and make it easier to maintain the beauty of our parish campus. A plan will be coordinated through and with the Parish Manager and Joe prior to being announced. If you are interested in being part of this ongoing endeavor, please contact me, John Kittelson at or jhnkittelson@gmail.com or Tony Kedrowski at or atkedrow@gmail.com Thank you, John Kittelson, Buildings and Grounds
