1 News 4 U November 2018 Last Sunday we blessed the show boxes full of presents for Wellington Shoe Box Christmas and these have now been delivered to a local school in Porirua. This Sunday as we begin Advent we also welcome by Baptism into the church Elliot who will be presented by family and friends at our St Albans service. In my sermon on Sunday I shared a quote from a book called Living the Christian year and I share this now as a bridge to help us cross over and be ready for Advent which begins this Sunday. The journey to Christmas where along the way we encounter hope, love, joy and peace. As you read these words may you be ready for the journey once more The ancient circle of seasons does not get old and familiar narrative does not grow dull. Nor will the recurring patterns of longing and fulfilment, of repentance and grace become tiresome. With each circuit through the sacred calendar, we enter more deeply into the drama of God s redemption of the world and of us. The Christian year helps us to live inside the Story that grounds us in our truest identity and gives our lives their deepest meaning. We absorb its liberating truth, we embrace its transforming goodness and we revel in its luminous beauty. So when it comes to living the Christian year, we do well to adopt a childlike eagerness. Again! The Christian year gives us a panoramic view of the triune God and his Story. But we don t just survey the landscape; we inhabit it. We cling in hope to his promises when our world is falling apart. In devoting ourselves to Jesus, over time, our stories confirm to his Story, our lives to his Life. From him we learn the waiting that enlarges, the giving that enriches and the telling that enlightens. PARISH CENTRE DISHWASHER A huge thank you to all who donated for the replacement of our dishwasher. The old one did 14 year s service wonderful! The new one was installed on Monday ready for a busy week. No more donations required.

3 Sunday morning was a busy morning but it was sunny, we as a congregation celebrated 'Christ the King' God in all of Creation (both rather huge concepts but handled well!) After the Service the garden was weeded, the tomatoes were staked, fertilizer was added around the plants and all are doing well. The leeks are growing steadily and soon will be ready for the summer salads and pies. Ashley Blair turned up prepared with tools and ties. My ties were usable as they were plastic and too stiff anyway we needed to have old stockings that could be cut up. Much more adaptable and able to be stretched around the delicate growing stalks. It was good to have James putting his hand in the soil too. We hope the strawberry plant thrives and is edible for all before the birds! The potatoes were planted by some of the children and folk asked about the spinach - spinach is a great vegetable - versatile, delicious fresh and very nutritious. I can't answer the name of the family of the spinach plant because the tag has disappeared. Please if you are in the Plimmerton area and the weather has been dry please water the plants - the daily temperature is hotter and the plants initially need a lot more watering. The potatoes are under the eves of the Church and don't get as much water as the garden itself. Please remember the garden produce is only as good as it needs to be if it is watered regularly. Bless you all, Marie Preston Checkout this link that includes us Parish of Pauatahanui! It has photos of our service at the marae and the GEOH garden. Farewell morning tea for Jaci our Parish Administrator Wednesday 5 th 10.15am All welcome SHARED LUNCH 18 TH DEC PARISH CENTRE BRING SOMETHING TO SHARE. ALL WELCOME!
