We reach out to all components, with a special emphasis on our Reserve members and their families. You may ask: Why is it called Operation Barnabas? Barnabas was Paul s companion, who helped him in his missionary journey. Barnabas means son of encouragement. All are invited as St. Paul Lutheran Church will be honoring all veterans with a special honorary service and celebration dinner on Saturday, November 11th starting at 5:30 p.m. with the worship service. Chaplain Sutton of the Naval Air Station in Kingsville will be presiding for all services that weekend. Veterans, we would like to display your military pictures both then and now. 8 DISASTER RELIEF UPDATE The Texas District has been busy identifying needs and finding churches that are able to house volunteers longterm for Harvey Disaster Relief across the Texas coast. We took some time to take a step back while the District worked to get Peace Lutheran in Rockport up and running as a volunteer location and to give them time to get paperwork all in order. With that being said, Peace is now up and running again to take volunteers and we are excited to partner with them and the Texas District for St. Paul teams to once again start going to serve and be the hands and feet of Jesus in towns that are needing help. Following are dates we have set aside to take teams between now and January: November 17-19, December 8-10, January 2-7 These trips are for ages 14 and up and can involve a variety of work from gutting houses, to limb clean up, to painting, to just chatting with people who were impacted by Harvey. If you d like to join us for any of these dates, please contact Kayla at kb@splch.com and she will get you the important paperwork needed to go on these trips. Hope you can join our team!
