1 KILLASSER/CALLOW PARISH NEWSLETTER PARISH WEBSITE - FR. JOHN DURKAN (094) frjohnd@gmail.com Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time 8 th July 2012 KILLASSER/CALLOW PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MISSION STATEMENT We seek to become a more welcoming community where God s wonderful message of faith, hope and love is experienced Callow Bicentenary The celebrations for the Callow Bicentenary last weekend were a huge success, every event went well and each one will hold special memories for those who attended. The support at each event made it all worthwhile, your attendance made the events very special. The Bicentenary Committee would like to thank all who helped them, before and during the weekend. They are too numerous to mention individually but we are most grateful to all the volunteers who cleaned and planted the gardens, those who lent and prepared the set and dance floor, the talented actors, musicians and dancers who brought the pageant to life. Our thanks also to the Callow choir together with their friends from the Killasser, Swinford and Cluster choirs and the traditional musicians who excelled themselves, the Nolan Family for inviting us to Cloonygowan and all those involved in preparing the children s choir for the service at the Cillín. As always the hospitality at the refreshment tent was second to none and we must thank all who laboured there as well as those who so generously donated food for all three events. Our thanks also to all those who supported the very enjoyable dinner dance and to Michael Fox who provided the music free of charge. We appreciate your help in fundraising and providing material for the book over the last 21 months and hope that you all enjoy the results and spend many happy hours reading the story of the Church and its people. Later on, we will launch the project. Thanks for your co-operation. Fr. John. EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS PRAYER Lord Jesus, you were sent by the Father to gather together those who are scattered. You came among us doing good and bringing healing, announcing the Word of salvation and giving the Bread which lasts forever. Be our companion on life s pilgrim way. May your Holy Spirit inflame our hearts, enliven our hope and open our minds, so that together with our sisters and brothers in faith we may recognise you in the Scriptures and in the breaking of bread. May your Holy Spirit transform us into one body and lead us to walk humbly on the earth, in justice and love, as witnesses of your resurrection. In communion with Mary, whom you gave to us as our Mother at the foot of the cross, through you may all praise, honour and blessing be to the Father in the Holy Spirit and in the Church, now and forever.
